The last known ping by Pearl Motors was at the Shell station according to LE. We don't know the precision of the OnStar and/or console GPS but we have been going with the LE statement. I believe others on here have followed cases where GPS becomes disabled by being in water. If the Shell station statment is incorrect then sure your theory of losing GPS might work.
I don't mean to argue that the GPS wasn't intentionally disabled. I just wanted to ask whether we KNOW that to be true. I don't have any technical knowledge of a system like this, and it seems like a key detail in this case.

I'm trying to go back and question all that we "know" about this case because I'm not sure which information is reliable at this point.

Two months after Danniella Vian went missing, the Mobile Police Department has created a blog aimed at helping to find the 24-year-old mother.

The MPD is asking people to post what they know about her disappearance. The link to the blog is mobilepd.org/finddanniella.

An MPD news release states:
"Although other blogs exist, this blog is set up for people in the community who may have seen something or might have information that could help further the investigation. They are encouraged to comment on the posts. The blog will serve as a centralized two-way communication hub with the Mobile Police Department and community."

The police department says the cash reward money to be given for information leading to finding Vian has increased from $2,000 to $5,000.
MPD starts blog to help find Danniella Vian

You have to provide an email to post a tip or comment but the site assures you that it will not be published.
I don’t think I have ever seen or heard of a police department starting a blog on one of their cases. Has anyone else seen this done before? I guess there will be a public group after all :D

What?! I thought it was a totally public NAMUS-like page meant to bring awareness to a missing person and not a private gossip club?

Really?!?! When was that ever said? It's a closed FB group.

The statement from LE was that the last known ping was at the Shell station. So, I guess this is what we know for sure. People then started to explore options as to why there would be no more pings after the Shell and the most likely scenarios were it stopped transmitting either due to being disabled or simply malfunctioned. So, to answer your question we don't 100% know that it was manually disabled. We just know there were no more pings reported. Hope that helps.

Honestly, I am not sure about how GPS tracking, I still get freaked out when I get in my car and my phone tells me how long it takes to get somewhere and I have not even asked! HA But I believe LE must know something otherwise they would not have released this information.

I read in several reports by MSM that CT was out of town with family and was due back Thursday, and DNV was suppose to spend the night at JDTs
Can you post the MSM reports on this as I can't find them as I think it would be helpful to put this info into the timeline of things we 'know'!

I read upthread that you are a spokesperson for a missing person org and that you are a spokesperson for the disappearance of Danniella Nickole Vian.

Are you affiliated with Klaaskids, or are you just telling us that there is an effort to involve Klasskids with the police department in Mobile?

What sort of activities does your missing person org want to carry out that have not been approved by police? Curious what the "rejection" paperwork says.

Post it here. Social media is powerful.

I advocate for the missing but am not part of a missing org; I just work with them.

[Edited for clarification.]

DNV has apparently been living in her own apartment for a while (at least for the past year or so).

It would have been difficult and aggravating to bum rides from friends especially working double shifts for an extended period of time. Do the buses run at 2am when Ollie’s closes?

She would had a car prior to this one. A good deal of cash came from an insurance claim? Was she involved in a car accident serious enough to get money? Was her car totaled?

She wasn’t living with JDT, wasn’t in a relationship with TT and living alone while pregnant which she just gave up for adoption. She is doing it alone and supporting herself. That’s a lot for anyone.

Ollie's was within walking distance to her apartment so, prior to getting her car, she walked to & from.

Do we know this to be a fact?? Would be interesting to see if we could figure out how often her lojack updated the location. Maybe @dancemom could be heading in the right direction. What if it did only refresh the location every say 15 minutes, what if the car was destroyed and not just the GPS

We do know it wasn't a LoJack. LE confirmed this to JDT on Friday; hopefully they will also update the public on this soon.

Hello @cedgison Do you have any word on possible press conferences? LE has a blog now and wondering if they would be having any press conferences to promote the blog?

Absolutely, it might take a minute... I’ve never posted a link on here. I could be wrong about it but that’s just what I understood from reading.

JDT asked for one to be done and she was told the detective would do another one but was not given a date/time.

In regards to GPS. After reading the manual for 2014 chevy Cruze and OnStars site...Chevy Cruzes are equipped with onStar and even if you don’t subscribe to services they continue to track your vehicle for “ “research”. When onStar is active the blue light (on the rear view mirror i think) is illuminated. It is not when it is disconnected. The fuse to disable the gps is to the left of the steering wheel and as long as it’s not a replacement fuse it actually says onStar on the fuse. Otherwise one would refer to the diagram on the fuse compartment cover. It also seems as long as There is not any interference of the signal the gps continuously tracks the vehicle.

Maybe the fact that she just got a new car made somebody nervous. She has no real ties to AL, friends or family, only has cash, she could hypothetically take her daughter and go out of state. I can see her being hormonal, possibly still dealing with the trauma of giving up a second baby, and maybe mentioning the wrong thing to the wrong person.

Not saying that's what she planned, but it's enough that somebody might have thought that and acted out of desperation.
Solid theory dealing with the emotional issues that might have been swirling around her life at the time! Good suggestion....need to keep thinking along these lines I think as she clearly had been through a major life event and then gave up the baby to adoption. Very emotional for sure.

This is a valid technical question. I will see if the GM website has any information about OnStar location services. I agree that if the refresh is 15 min that makes the search area radius totally different and impacts the discussion greatly.

This is good information and is very helpful. It at least minimizes some of the suspicions with other parties.

Was JDT able to find out (or was it JDT herself) how they found out the last ping was at the Shell station? Was it the dealership that looked up the GPS information or was it LE?

Thank you for updating that information.
