AL - Hostage situation leaves deputy injured/suspect dead, Randolph Cty, 9 July 2016

Shots fired, officer down.

The incident began around Swagg, AL. Subject set fire to son’s house, yard and car and killed the sons dog. He is armed with a 9mm handgun and a rifle. Possible hostage in camper with subject is his wife.

The injured deputy has been transported to UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham) Hospital.

SWAT from Oxford has been called to the scene.

A Randolph County Sheriff's deputy was shot and injured Saturday during a hostage situation, police said.The deputy was transported to UAB hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.


The suspect is dead following a hostage situation, Randolph County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Larry Clarke said.

The hostage is OK, he said.

UPDATE 9:50 : The deputy shot and injured in Randolph County earlier today has been released from UAB hospital according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Basically agreeing w above: domestic disturbances are a type of call where LEOs are (most?) often injured or killed, whether by gunshot, stabbing, sucker punch, etc.

On the other hand, Dex, if you're saying that domestic violence perpetrators are not usually candidates for Spouse of the Year or Parent of the Year, mos' def' agreeing 100%, they are rarely nominees for ^ awards. JM2cts.
