As I grow older I am learning more about myself. I once believed in conspiracy theories almost as an automatic. Experience and training have taught me to subscribe to Occam's Razor. Although I am a firm believer in thinking outside the box (lateral thinking). Based on what I have read and seen about these homocides, I still firmly believe this was a crime of opportunity by a local resident from within walking distance of the vehicle discovery. I don't buy into a cover up. I am more likely to believe in incompetence during investigation before a conspiracy.

I think almost everyone here brings something really amazing to this thread. I hope it continues. The families deserve answers and justice.

For the record... And totally unrelated...

JFK - Oswald alone
WM3 - they did it.
OJ - guilty
JonBenet Ramsey - mother involved in cover up
Casey Anthony - guilty
Bigfoot - maybe

Yeah Im not buying it , Implicates them of what ?, why write a blog entry naming names , but not explain the contents of this mysterious "tape" .

So someone tailed them all the way to the area they were recovered to stop them for a tape ?...... How would anyone surmise they had this on them, when they were going to a party ? What the hell was it a mix tape?

Are they referring to a video tape ?...

He could have ANYONE on a tape, there's no way to verify its anyone unless its video , and another thing if 2 young girls were killed over this tape (at least 1 intentionally if we are to believe his story) wouldn't you be worried for your safety?

Why leave 2 bodies and potential evidence, that you know are going to be found? You know are going to be investigated and there's going to be tremendous pressure to solve the case.

I mean I can't rule it out but it doesn't sound plausible at all .

Like you, I have a couple of people in mind that I have felt were involved (one an accessory before the fact and the other the actual killer). I sticking with the my original thoughts as well. The theory put forth in the blog will be easy to disprove if it is false.

Some on the Facebook page are now saying that the female person implying that she was a police officer and reported all of this is not and never has been a member of the Ozark PD. Interesting. I really hope the writer checked his sources better than that.

I read it. It is interesting. I can't buy into it much without substantially more info. Do you know how difficult it is to keep a secret amongst multiple people for and substantial amount of time? 16 years is too long. I just don't buy it (yet). Just my thoughts.

Way too far fetched. I almost wish it were true so we could have some closure...almost.

I bet you think we up and landed on the moon back in 69 too don't you.

Wait!!! We have been to the moon?

If this woman making these claims is proven to be falsely making statements and isn't clinically bat @#%* crazy... Then she should be ashamed (and held accountable).

Since reading the recent accusations/developments last night, I had a chance to rest and wake up fresh. Let's wait and see what comes next. I actually hope that my gut feeling on all this is wrong and that this case is solved. Another thought I have is ANY attention to this case is GOOD attention. Even if false, it has shaken things up and may lead to a real break. I have a nagging sensation that 3 months will pass and this will die down and just be another lost conspiracy theory. Mainstream media outlets will pick up on this fast if there is any merit. I assure you that if there is any small town good ole boy blue wall of silence... It will not be able to influence family and outside media. Waiting....

Did everyone watch the video of JBs sister? Lots of information I hadn't heard before.
Why was chief spivey at the scene of an abandoned car before anything was even known about a double murder?
And why would they not open the trunk if there was blood on the ground. It took a Dothan LEO to get there and open the trunk.
This isn't a conspiracy theory folks. This is a cover up. JMO

Round #2...http://henrycountyreport.com/blog/2...-on-murders-of-jb-beasley-and-tracie-hawlett/

Retired Police Officer Shares Case Notes on Murders of JB Beasley and Tracie Hawlett Profile photo of Jon B. Carroll

"Speaking with over 35 years experience, he wanted to share some of his personal case notes about the murders of JB Beasley and Tracie Hawlett with the public. He believes that a police officer killed the young women when the tapes they had in their possession were not recovered that night.

He provided a report that appears to detail a burglary that occurred in the former Hawlett home where the only room targeted was Tracie’s. The burglars took nothing, but appeared to be searching for something in Tracie’s room.

After the girls died, he noted that two Ozark police officers appeared and tried to force their way into the Hamlet home and search Tracie’s room. Her parents made them leave. This, he believes, is evidence that the tapes were not recovered by the Police officers that killed them...."

The burglary report is the one thing that gives merit to this so far. Although it could be a coincidence, I'm still in the "wait and see what comes next" mode.

I find it difficult (but not impossible) to believe two high school girls were plotting to blackmail drug dealing corrupt police officers and government officials while possibly having sexual relations with them.

I'm folding on this hand but I'm not leaving the table quite yet. I do know there are corrupt small town organizations and crooked cops in every part of the world. It could be that there is zero truth, part truth or mostly factual. It could be there were corrupt activities that had nothing to do with the murders. I need to look more into the attorney's death. I'm ignorant on that subject.

Chips still in my hand... Waiting.

If secret tapes were made in 99, my guess is it would have had to be a micro-cassette tape which could only be played by the recording device. A cassette recorder would have been too bulky most likely and digital recorders weren't that popular at the time. A school locker would have been an excellent place to keep such a thing to avoid snooping parents/siblings/friends.

My biggest issue with the "tapes" is simple. Prosecutors and investigators wouldn't wait until the day of a trial or court to obtain that sort of evidence. There would have been meetings prior.

This post doesn't mean I'm in on this...lol. Just discussing possibilities.

One more thought. If the girls were using the tapes as "bail" for a friend in trouble... Why would that even be necessary? According to what is being claimed, the police were corrupt and having relations with the high school students. Wouldn't it have made more sense for them to just pull some strings???

BBM http://www.southeastsun.com/newscrime/article_e456ef03-3450-5399-9efa-d9cb0ae4cbb4.html

"An Ozark man pleaded guilty Friday in Dale County Circuit Court to murder in the April death of Dothan attorney Brian Westervelt Dowling.

Anthony Ray Harp, 43, was scheduled to go on trial this week in Dowling's death but chose instead to appear early before Circuit Judge P.B. McLauchlin and enter a guilty plea. Harp was indicted in by a Dale County grand jury earlier this summer. Sentencing will be set at a later date, McLauchlin said."

That doesn't really sound like a hit to me - no pun intended.

TedMac, why was I under the impression they never made it to the field party in Headland??? I know I've read that numerous times. Comments on the breaking news seem to indicate they did make it. I must be getting old and forgetful.

BBM I don't think they found the field party either. There was more than one party in Ozark that night. I believe they drove around a while trying to find and in doing so they used up a lot of gasoline. After making the phone call from the Big/Little store, they went to another party that they were aware of and that is where they were captured. It is MO & MOO that they were lured into the last party by an accomplice of the killer.

I agree. I have not seen anything tying the "murderer" to organized crime. But, as with most things, you never really know.
