BBM I don't think they found the field party either. There was more than one party in Ozark that night. I believe they drove around a while trying to find and in doing so they used up a lot of gasoline. After making the phone call from the Big/Little store, they went to another party that they were aware of and that is where they were captured. It is MO & MOO that they were lured into the last party by an accomplice of the killer.

A retired LE says he has 20+ witnesses who saw them at field party in Headland. I will go back and read those comments again. Sorry it's hard to copy/paste links/text from my tablet and phone.

Did you watch the video of JB's sister, Jacqui Burgoon, that was at the very end of the first article from the Henry County Report? In her account of the night, she didn't mention them stopping in Headland other than to use the phone and ask directions to Midland City or Ozark. I've always heard they never attended the field party too.

I think the party in headland was the night before.

Very odd. The alleged retired LE officer has had all his posts removed from the comment section of the Henry County story released earlier today. Did anyone else see his comment about having 20 to 30 names of people that saw them THAT night?

Strange. It didn't appear as though he was buying into the new developments. I guess we can draw our own conclusions. Either the administrator disagreed with him and removed them or he was deemed not credible. His comments didn't seem whacky to me though.

My head is hurting. Reading through everything... especially the arguing on the Facebook Justice page... has forced me to take a break for awhile. I still believe that anything with merit will stick. Anything else will surely fade away. I stand by my previous comments. I will be checking board of course. I'm glad we have always remained civil and logical on this thread. :)

Not to sound like the naysayer here, but that Blog post has all the Earmarks of a book being plugged.... just speaking from experience.

I could be wrong

Beasley's family is trying to get the Dept of Justice to takeover the investigation. I'm not sure if they will be successful or not. The FBI was involved at one point, but I believe it was to give support and technical advice. I don't think they actually took the lead. With all of the allegations of local and state corruption, it may be a good thing if they do. I'm not saying these agencies are corrupt, just suggesting it may be best if they did.

@RichKelly...Do you know what procedure or what has to happen in order for the FBI to assume the lead and take over the investigation in a case like this?

Local PD has to ask them to come in unless certain criteria are present to determine it as a federal case, then they can take over , but most often they are invited

All of what has been speculated upon the past few days sure does seem to match the more prominent rumours we have heard over the years. I am not as skeptical as most only because corruption and cover up is what I had suspected very early on in my research of this case. But having said that, I need to see some proof before I believe it 100%.
Can't really think of a reason why the girls may have had these recordings in their possession. But I do remember reading very early comments on wiregrass that one of the girls was a "narc". I read that on more than one message board over the years from posts dating back to as early as 2001.

There certainly are some developments in the case of J.B. Beasley and Tracie Hawlett. I guess it makes sense it would be a police officer. They were stopped before they ever got lost.

I really thought they ended up on someone's property. Profiling the killer I would have thought it was someone who might have abused drugs or alcohol and I would have described them as a young scared kid.

My specialty is map reading and I really thought they got lost within Ozark, AL. It just goes to show that I was reading too much into things.

Here is Round #4...

Letters by Police Officers Asking for Assistance in the Beasley Hawlett Case From 2002 Leaked

REQUESTS WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE GOVERNOR TO STOP COVER UP !

"Documents were leaked to the Henry County Report today by former, and current law enforcement officers, complaining of corruption, and alleging a coverup by the Ozark Police Department concerning the 1999 murders of JB Beasley and Tracie Hawlett.

Contrary to claims by some in the community, multiple law enforcement officers have tried to get the Department of Justice, FBI, and Governor, to intervene for years to address police corruption in Ozark.

Further, during the course of the time period of these requests, by law enforcement officers to the FBI, Attorney General, Governor, Department of Justice, and Senator Harri Ann Smith, the state became ranked as the most corrupt in the nation by the Center for Ethics at Harvard University..."

Is it just me or were these latest developments kind of generic? I didn't read the handwritten letter from latest article... too sloppy. The other requests seemed generic in nature. I will read them again.

I'm actually ticked off. The website releasing this info is trying too hard to be suspenseful. Stop releasing stuff in increments and throw everything you have out. No pun intended but there is no smoking gun here! If I'm wrong then it's a good thing... it will mean the case is nearing an end. If people are using the victim's families as pawns and giving them false hope to push their own agendas... that would be pathetic.

I agree that what has been released so far is less than convincing to a lot of people. I think more will come out and if this website is legit, they will have to show more decisive evidence. It is my understanding they have more. Time will tell.

Also, I am certain word of all this will be reaching the public and newspapers such as the Dothan Eagle and others are probably doing their research trying to substantiate the validity of the claims. If they are able to do this, look for them to pick up the story and move forward.

As I said, time will tell.

The poster I referred to earlier from Henry County Report website claims to have some interesting info regarding the killer from the Montgomery Rave Theater murderer who left victim's vehicle in identical spot as Beasley and Hawlett. Look at the report from 10/28 on that site and check his comment. I always thought this guy (killer) was a viable suspect since coming on board. Wonder how much he can verify. I wish "Top" would join our discussion on here.
