Does anyone know which gas station they were meeting at?mwas it on 231 or off 231?

Supposedly it was the Shell on 231, in Midland City.

Thanks. More traffic there than on 134 in the actual town. But sadly if that's where they were taken from, it didn't matter.

The gas station(Shell) in Midland City, AL is the last place I would think J.B. Beasley and Tracie Hawlett were kidnapped from. The fact that two boys were there waiting for them has to be considered and that the boys probably waited long enough to the point where they figured the girls were not coming. Also, how would the killer leave J.B. Beasley's car on Herring Avenue in Ozark, AL and get back to his car at the Midland City, AL gas station(without an accomplice to drive him back or without him being someone without a car who just happens to walk along busy 4 lane highways and stop at random gas stations late at night)? The logistical aspect of the vehicles involved is one of the biggest mysteries in this case.
In my opinion, I think they were kidnapped before the Midland City, AL gas station. Map interpretation is my specialty. There is no doubt in my mind they were kidnapped before the Midland City, AL gas station. If this mystery ever gets solved I would be very surprised if that is not the case.

I agree, just throwing some thoughts around. I believe it happened one of two ways...it was planned and the killer got them to stop. Or, it was a crime of chance and the killer got control of them when they stopped sometime after they left the Big Little but before they got to Midland City.
I think that either they were stopped by LE or someone posing as LE after leaving the big little OR they made a stop somewhere close to the big little. I don't think they ever made it out of Ozark that night. Whoever drove JB's car to Herring Ave, knew the area in my opinion. That's the only spot that didn't have houses around and looked like it's in the middle of nowhere back then but was actually blocks away from the hospital and down town. It still looks that way now except for some duplexes they built at the other end of the street. I think there are people that know exactly what happened but are scared of saying or just don't want to get involved. Again, this is just my opinion of it.
As I can imagine it right now, the killer or killers drove the girls somewhere in the woods where it was muddy and had deep wet grass. Marched them out of the car to execute them. Then put them in the trunk.
If there were no fingerprints on the steering wheel of anywhere else in the.car he or they were really prepared.

Whoever it was, they had to be pretty confident that they wouldn't get pulled over with two bodies in the trunk or knew that they wouldn't get pulled over. According to the video of JB's sister, there was a bullet hole throught the floor of the trunk with blood dripping out. It takes a brave person to take that chance or someone that is LE or close to LE. That's just my thinking.

I think you can basically summarize the physical evidence in the case of J.B. Beasley and Tracie Hawlett.
1. It is a verified fact(as far as I know) that both girls were shot in the trunk. I think J.B. Beasley's sister said the bullet that killed Tracie went through the floor of the trunk. From what I read or heard in an interview with J.B. Beasley's sister, Tracie was shot in the head. As for the amount of blood leaking from the trunk, that could possibly be because the initial bullet wound to J.B. Beasley may not have killed her. From what I read she was shot in the face(cheek). She may then have been bleeding out until she succumbed to her injury. Only the police investigation knows for sure. That is my take on it.
2. Both girls pants were muddy, wet from either the waist or knee down, and had briars on their clothing. So an area that would be muddy, wet, and have briars would be the place to look for. Unfortunately there are probably many places like that in the Ozark, AL area. Also, I think the area had to be somewhat lit up if this case is what it appears to be, some type of passive sexual assault case. My opinion is that maybe the car lights were used to illuminate the scene or they were in an area at night that would have an overhead light such as a rest stop? Looking for places in and out of town on the route they would have taken home would be important.
3. J.B. Beasley's car was left near the southern end of Herring Avenue in Ozark, AL. One of the most perplexing aspects of the case is how the killer/killer(s) managed his vehicle's location with J.B. Beasley's car's final location on Herring Avenue? I cannot explain this although what follows is my opinion.
I think the killer was familiar, but not that familiar with Ozark, AL. At least that is what the mapping tells me when you combine it with the story of that night. In terms of mapping the killer literally parked J.B. Beasley's vehicle in the one area of Ozark, AL that says that he had to walk. (This is if you discard the idea that J.B. Beasley and Tracie Hawlett were lost in Herring Avenue area when they met the killer). I think the killer's concern was less with parking near where he originally left his vehicle than it was with being seen walking away from J.B. Beasley's vehicle. The reason is that if he parked J.B. Beasley's car on a street that had houses and walked away, why would that scare him so much? He is in another person's car anyway. So what if a resident calls police to report the license plate once he parks the car. That makes me think the killer was a young person only a few years older than J.B. and Tracie who was rather paranoid about leaving witnesses. It is better to walk a long distance and be seen by witnesses away from the car than have a witness identify a "location" if he parked J.B. Beasley's car close to where his own vehicle was located. So I think this killer walked a distance back to their vehicle. Or at least that is what the mapping tells me. And that mapping is based on the girls not being lost and driving the required route home.

Beasley and Tracie Hawlett through knowing them than he is with being connected to them through a location or physical evidence. So I think the killer is a stranger who thinks that what is most likely going to connect him to the murders of J.B. Beasley or Tracie Hawlett is a physical location or vehicle.
I would add that everything I wrote above is based on what may have happened or where J.B. Beasley and Tracie Hawlett may have traveled after leaving the Big Little gas station on the night of July 31, 1999. If they got "lost" in the southeast section of Ozark, AL where the car was eventually found on Herring Avenue, that changes everything. In that case maybe the killer parked the car on the southern end of Herring Avenue because he lived in a house right up the street or he left his own vehicle not far from where he left J.B. Beasley's car?

It's possible that he parked the car on Herring because as you said, it was close walking distance to home. It's possible his car was some distance away from there but he didn't care and planned to get it the next day. His main objective was getting rid of the car without being seen and getting home.
If this was the case, someone knows that a friend or family member came home late that night and had to retrieve their car in the next day or so. Was it under the guise of having had car trouble? Running out of gas? " oh, I was out of gas so I parked the car and so and so gave me a ride home."

If the person who killed J.B. Beasley and Tracie Hawlett was on foot or if they had an accomplice who drove the "other" vehicle, then any sort of mapping interpretation goes out the window.
If you assume for a second(and I know I should not assume), that the killer was a young person then I think it is strange he chose 2 victims.
That made me think there is the possibility the girls were kidnapped at the rest stop on 231. One of them goes inside and is approached by the killer and then brings the killer back to the car or the girl who remained in the car was approached by the killer. Either way I thought it was unique if the killer actually chose 2 victims.
Or it could be that the killer, because he had a gun, just did not care about taking 2 victims. Nobody knows where the girls ran into their killer.

Given that JB and Tracie were headed to a gas station 15-20 min away, MOO I find it doubtful that they would stop at a rest area, especially at that time of night.

The gas station was probably closed and the restrooms locked.
I really doubt they stopped at the rest area too. hardly anyone used that rest area except for out of town people .
