GUILTY AL - Jack Girdner, 73, & DeJerinett twins, 9, found murdered, Hope Hull, 3 June 2012

Who would have the guts...and lack of heart and soul....to take the lives of a 73-year-old man and two little children? Whoever did this is a criminal of the worst kind. Society needs to start putting these harse criminals to death. Sad to say. But these guys know that they either 1. Get away with it, or 2. Get put in jail and fed and kept up for free during endless appeals.

Ok...now, I'm getting fired up. I need to pipe down. Feeling frustrated at our lack of control over these violent offenders.

This is horrible! Thanks for your info, Beach. It is much appreciated. I guess we will have to wait to see how this unfolds. Those poor kids. So sorry for them and their family, and Mr. Gridner.

You know, if/when this comes out to be some random carjacking or someone targeting the man and children due to their races or WHATEVER, I hope all of these nasty, vicious, hateful people will come back and apologize to the mother and to Mac's family.

I guess most people aren't accustomed to seeing a decent, caring 73-year-old man who isn't an offender. Let's face it...we get jaded here and also in our society. There have been so many SO's out there that our minds just naturally go to the worst scenario. Its sad we are like this. But we are conditioned to think this way due to the terrible crimes we see committed out in the world every day.

I just read an article this morning about a man being asked to leave a Barnes and Noble because he was in the kids section without having kids with him. (roll eyes) HELLO, he has KIDS.

I get that, and I'll admit that the thought crossed my mind. But to put it out there, especially where the mom and Mac's family can see it, ESPECIALLY now that it looks like they have all three been killed...it seems so inhumane.

Reminds me of this:

"Be careful when you fight the monsters, lest you become one."

I would love to see a link to this article. The situation leaves many questions unanswered. Was the man looking at BOOKS or was he looking at the CHILDREN, maybe over a prolonged period of time, maybe repetitively, maybe making innappropriate remarksnor suggestions? It's hard to know the details. Sometimes we know 1% of the total and write-in the other 99% unknown from our own data-bank of experiences, perception, and reactions.

I love bookstores, spend time in them, buy for grandchildren, and have never seen single male SHOPPERS asked to leave the store. I'm "guessing" this man made some watchful parents uncomfortable, but that's just a possibility. ?

Moments after entering the business, Amin said he received a call from his girlfriend and sat down to take the call. That’s when the employee approached.

“He said that men alone are not supposed to be in the children's reading area by themselves,” Amin said. “I told him there were no signs, and then he said a woman complained.”

Since we're not supposed to discuss Twitter posts, I'll just say that everything I have read supports what Beach has said. And I believe the word has traveled quickly through the local population. I believe we will learn that a gun was involved.

I do not know the motive. He did not strike me as a wealthy man, but someone may have thought him to be wealthy. Certainly, he could have been killed for his car. But I doubt that. The car is a 1988 model. I'm not sure it would be worth much. Of course, crooks are stupid.

Here is what really bothers me. Killing these three individuals seems unnecessary. It tells me that the killer is someone they knew. It was someone they could identify. Because even a hardened criminal is not going to kill little kids.

Makes me wonder if the male B&N employee who asked this doctor to leave is allowed in the children's section alone or if he has to be supervised by a child also.

:waitasec:

Sorry! Back on topic!

I think it is a very sorry state of affairs when we assume all people of any kind are bad - whether it is men, women, people of a certain race or faith, people with a certain sexual preference...whatever.

There are many good and kind men who genuinely like kids. Just like there are horrible evil women who should never be left alone with children, even their own.

I don't know. Was wondering the same thing.

There are all kinds of questions running through my mind now that I wish I would have asked when I had the chance. Hindsight and all that.

I really was not thinking straight when I called the source. I didn't have a list of questions jotted down or anything. I didn't pretend to be calling in any professional capacity - I was completely upfront & told him I lost sleep over it and could not get it off of my mind. Would he be willing to please just confirm what my boss had told me. Poor guy...he just knows me (indirectly) and was telling me what he could to give me some relief.

I do wish I had asked if she had more children though. That would not be any big deal to release..

Is it true that Jack Girdner is a retired anesthesiologist? (These physicians earn over a half a million/year. He might have mega $$$ in savings.)

The lack of confirmations leads me to believe that LE is on to someone, I just hope they get them quick. It always amazes me how heartless some people can be.

He had a license to sell insurance in California up until 2005. I don't know whether he had other careers.

I think we might be dealing with a case where they hope someone slips up and mentions a detail that was not disclosed by police.
