I wonder if JD suddenly came into a large sum of cash within the weeks before the unlawful imprisonment, rape and torture of his GF?

In a handwritten letter filed with the petition, the alleged victim makes the following accusations against Dykes:

"...he took all resources such as my cell phone away from me so I couldn't contact anyone."

"He wouldn't allow me to eat or drink a lot of times and when he did after eating or drinking what he gave me I would become dizzy very sleepy and I would fall asleep until he hit or yelled at me..."

"He tied me up with a amp cord until I passed out and he made me sleep with cord around my throat. He beat me in my face, head and body with a metal rod with a whip attached to the end of it."
Accuser: Theodore suspect "raped, beat and held me against my will for 3 1/2 weeks"

Mobile Police Department would not say how Dykes' Theodore property was connected to Vian because it is an active investigation. Dykes was charged the same day his property was searched by police.

A Mobile Police Department spokesperson said the domestic violence charges were first reported Aug. 29 and that the arrest was executed as part of a search warrant.

Vian and Dykes do have a connection on Facebook. She is friends with him on two out of three of his accounts.

Are Dykes accounts available?

I agree. I wondered is this girl “estranged” from her family? We know the family stated this about DNV? What are the similarities with these two girls? Looks like both have a child from males in this family.
Did JCD have a child with the victim?

I believe so. They both have photos of a little girl on their pages and I think it is the same child.

I just re-read the article on the arraignment and the MSM article said that JCD was assigned an atty by the court as he was indigent. That could just mean that the court couldn't prove that he didn't have funds to hire an atty. IDK how involved this process is to determine financial ability to pay for counsel maybe @Alethea might know. But according to the article he was described as indigent.

That is interesting. I wonder where the child is then? When I read the MSM description of the people that were taken away by police they listed 3 people. We don't know who the 3 people were other than JCD was one. I had assumed the other 2 were friends of his. But then someone else here or yesterday posted that his uncle and aunt lived there and that they were the other 2 people. Its a small house. How could they be there and not be away are a room with a lock on the outside and someone being abused? Could they have been away or living someplace else?

Hello! The court will determine whether a defendant is indigent. Here's the Alabama law. Usually it's not very hard to prove if you don't have any documented income or assets. The defendant will fill out a form.

2016 Code of Alabama :: Title 15 - CRIMINAL PROCEDURE. :: Chapter 12 - DEFENSE OF INDIGENTS. :: Article 1 - General Provisions. :: Section 15-12-5 - Determination of indigency and provision of defense services.

Surely, if he unlawfully came into a large sum of cash month or more before his arrest and that windfall is unknown to LE.......he would still be considered indigent.

Daniella's threads were pulled "for review of the topics being discussed." I missed a day or two so not sure what was being discussed but maybe someone who read them understands what exactly that means.

Mobile Police subsequently told media that a criminal investigation was underway. A search warrant was executed at a residence there around 6:30 a.m., Barber said.

He said three people had been detained. A SWAT team was involved in the operation. No shots were fired, and no one was injured, Barber said.

Just before noon, police told FOX10 News it would be an all-day investigation on the property. Numerous law enforcement assets and resources were being used, including K-9 units and drones. People carrying shovels were observed moving across the property.

“False imprisonmentoccurs when a person is restricted in their personal movement within any area without justification or consent. Actual physical restraint is not necessary to a false imprisonment case. False imprisonment is a common-law felony and a tort. It applies to private as well as governmental detention. When it comes to public police, the proving of false imprisonment is sufficient to obtain a writ of habeas corpus.”

Definitely. It is usually self reported and they can do things to check your tax returns and property records if you own property. But they're not going to see a few thousand dollars under your mattress or anything like that.

The Alabama law also says the decision will take into account the severity of the crimes. Given how serious the crimes are and how high the bail is, I think they'd err on the side of appointing him a lawyer.
