Wonder who last saw her at a truck stop?
Her family, so it seems; clipped from Democrat and Chronicle April 25th, 1982:

Full article text concerning Mrs. Streeter:

"Whenever the skeleton of an unidentified woman is found in Florida's panhandle or eastern Alabama, the Penn Yan Police Department gets a call. It could be the remains of June Allison Streeter of Penn Yan. Mrs. Streeter, 41, was last seen October 8, 1973, at a roadside rest stop on Highway 431 near Wedowee, Alabama. She and her fifth husband, Lawrence D. Streeter, were traveling to Penn Yan from the home of Streeter's parents in Altha, Florida with two of Mrs. Streeter's children by a previous marriage. On the evening of October 8th, streeter drove his car and the travel trailer it was pulling into the rest stop for the night.

The children, Jeffrey Lee, 13 and Laura Lee, 12, slept in the car and the Streeters slept in the trailer with the couple's two poodles. The next morning Streeter awakened the two children and told them their mother had left during the night. The poodles were barking fiercely in the trailer, but Streeter wouldn't let the children in it. He drove them south a few miles to Roanoke, Alabama, gave them $10 and put them on a bus to Bath, where their father, Douglas Lee lived. they arrived October 10.

The circumstances of Mrs. Streeter's disappearance alarmed her family. "I knew my sister, she never could have done this," says her sister Norma Banach of Penn Yan.

The Streeters had met four years before. He was from Nunda and traveled the South with a carnival and a donkey basketball game. They were married and travelled together. But Mrs. Streeter wanted to settle down. Mrs Banach says "She didn't like to travel," she says "She was here at my home and said what she wanted more than anything was to have something like this. She didn't mean it to be envious. She just wanted stability and a nice place to live."
Mrs. Streeter was afraid of her husband, Mrs. Banach said. She had left him several times, but he always came to get her back. Several times, she says, Mrs. Streeter had said her husband had threatened her with a pistol.

The family was even more upset when they didn't hear from her at Christmas, when she always had been in contact. They contacted the Penn Yan Police, who made inquiries in florida and Alabama.

The body of a woman was found in January 1974 near Titusville, Florida. Could the body be Mrs. Streeter's: five feet one inches to five feet two inches, 110 to 115 pounds, blue or blue-gray eyes, blonde hair and scars from 4 caesarean births. She wore size 5 shoes, a silver wedding ring and a black onyx ring and x-rays would show that her tailbone had been cracked.

The body wasn't hers.

In June 1976, Dade City, Florida, police found a woman's skeleton. there were more checks. And another stone wall.

The most recent inquiry came in July 1981 from Tallahassee, Florida, where the skeleton of a woman matching Mrs. Streeter's description was found. The coroner there thought the remains might be those of Mrs. Streeter because the tailbone was cracked. But a check showed that the tailbone was cracked differently from Mrs. Streeter's.

"It's still an open case," says Penn Yan police investigator Floyd Paddock, who went to high school with Mrs. Streeter. "I've been here 17 years, and this is the only case like this I can remember."

Police in Florida picked up Streeter and searched his trailer. They found some of Mrs. Streeter's clothing and a .32 caliber pistol. Streeter stuck to his story, that his wife had left in the middle of the night. He is now is living in Tampa, Florida.

Mrs. Streeter's brothers made several visits to Florida and Alabama. They hired a psychic two years after the disappearance, but she turned up nothing. No trace of Mrs. Streeter has ever been found, but family has little doubt that she is dead, perhaps buried in the marshes along Highway 431, near the Little Tallapoosa River. They offered a reward, it's amount was not specified, for the return of her body.

"You always have hope," says her brother-in-law, John Banach.

"I used to read about cases like this and think I understood how the family felt," says her sister, Norma Banach. "But now I know that you can never know until it happens to you. I don't think June will ever come home alive," she says "You just wish you could reach out to her, to touch her. But you can't. It's been hard on all of us. It's hard for the people who are left behind.""

Details of Disappearance
June was last seen at a roadside rest stop on Highway 431 near Wedowee, Alabama on October 8, 1973. She, her husband Lawrence D. Streeter, and her two children from a previous marriage were traveling from his parents' home in Altha, Florida to their own home in Penn Yan, New York.

Lawrence was driving the car, which was pulling a small travel trailer, and he pulled into the rest stop to spend the night. He, June and their two poodles slept in the travel trailer, and June's children were asleep in the car.

The next morning, Lawrence awakened the children and told them June had left during the night while he was asleep. The dogs were barking inside the trailer, but he wouldn't let the children into it. He unhooked the trailer and drove the children to a nearby town, gave them ten dollars and put them on a bus to Bath, New York, where their father lived. They arrived there two days later.

According to her family, it's uncharacteristic of June to leave without warning; she always kept in touch with her family. She had met Lawrence, her fifth husband, four years earlier while he was working a carnival. After their marriage, they traveled a circuit as a husband and wife country music duet, singing at clubs and carnivals.

However, by the time of her disappearance June was tired of traveling and said she wanted to settle down. Her sister stated June was afraid of Lawrence and that she had left him several times, would always return to him. He had allegedly threatened her with a pistol on multiple occasions.

When June's family hadn't heard from her by Christmas 1973, they reported her missing to the Penn Yan Police Department, and the Penn Yan police made inquiries in Florida and Alabama, but found no trace of her.

Investigators interviewed Lawrence and searched the travel trailer, and found a .32-caliber pistol and some of June's clothes. He insisted she had simply left him during the night and never returned. He moved to Florida shortly after her disappearance and was later arrested on an outstanding larceny warrant out of Georgia, but the larceny case was later settled in civil court.

June's family believes she is dead and may be buried in the marshes along Highway 431 in Alabama. Her disappearance remains unsolved. Penn Yan police are still the investigating agency.
