In their first public comments about the case, Fayette County investigators have identified the missing child as Kahleb Rowan Collins.

The crash happened on Fayette County 73 near Morris Cemetery on Dec. 8th. According to a news release from state troopers, a truck driven by 40 year old Steven Collins of Jasper ran off the road and hit a tree.

Eight days later the Fayette County Sheriff's Office has been unable to locate that one year old child.

Collins was taken to UAB hospital where he died the next day. A two year old toddler was pronounced dead on the scene. Both were unrestrained in the truck according to state troopers.22 year old Wendy Bailey of Jasper who is the mother of the two year old according to authorities was injured and airlifted to UAB Hospital. Bailey is in the ICU with life threatening injuries.Following the accident, authorities learned the family also had a one year old child. Eight days later the Fayette County Sheriff's Office has been unable to locate that one year old child.

WBRC spoke with Kahleb’s uncle who is pleading for answers.

“Please let me know where he’s at and if he’s okay, so we can find out what’s going on,” Dwayne Collins told WBRC in a phone interview Monday. Collins says he had not spoken to his brother Steven recently, and only just discovered Sunday that his nephew was missing.

I'll admit it doesn't sound good at all.
At that age, he didn't walk away on his own or even if he walked anywhere, he'd most likely have been found by now.
I'm worried something happened to Kahleb before the crash ?
Omo.

Since Dad and the toddler were unrestrained, per the article above, I wonder if little Kayleb was also unrestrained and was expelled from the vehicle into the woods.

Was there any problems with the family with Social Services before the accident?

The most likely scenario. They need to keep looking.

I don't like the sound of this. I think we all know the probable outcome.

State investigators from ALEA-SBI have joined the search for a missing one year old child in Fayette County.

It is believed Kahleb was not in the truck at the time of the crash; the site was thoroughly searched according to a county official. Information indicates the toddler may have been missing two months prior to the wreck and it was not reported to authorities.

(Article continues to say that several months ago, a neighbor asked the father where Kahleb was, and the father said he was sick and was living with a relative. Family members were told that he wasn't well and he was staying with a friend. The article references a FB post by the father on Nov 6 saying to pray for Kahleb because he wasn't well.

A neighbor told the reporter that LE was digging around the property.

A family member who lives at the property has been arrested for not reporting a missing child.)

The easiest answer is the small baby was thrown and is somewhere nearby. The more disturbing answer is something happened to him before and the crash was not accidental.moo
Very very tragic for their loved ones either way.

Also from the linked article:

In a Facebook post made Nov 6, Steven Collins said "Our son is not doing well. He is not growing and has major back issues. His organs are growing but not in his body. He has to have surgery at some point. Keep him in your prayers."

That post, however, does not seem to show on Steven Collins' FB acct now. At least not for me.

From the article:

Sources also told ABC 33/40 News that a relative who lived at the house has been arrested by Fayette County investigators on charges he failed to report a missing child. The sheriff's office and district attorney have not returned our calls for additional details.

Who else lived at the home?

Please don't let this be purposeful. I have a bad feeling about this.

I think we're all probably thinking along the same lines, here and it's awful.
