You misunderstood what I said. When the police presence showed up, I'm pretty sure most residents had come out to see what was going on and the little girl seen hadn't been hidden from view or knowledge for 4 hours. I mean, if I was the mother of a young child living there, knowing who they were looking for, I'd be standing at my door immediately saying, "My child looks similar, but it's not her."

I seriously doubt someone was just minding their own business, oblivious to this whole search, staying put in their apartment.

I don't know if that's coming across in print like I'm trying to say it

The tip could have/likely had zero to do with the young child living at the complex though. They likely had other reasons to search every apartment and vehicle. The mother was holding the young child outside for at least an hour while they continued searching. She was even outside before the SWAT teams rolled in.

There are probably hundreds of 3 year old black girls living in apartment complexes in Birmingham. I really don't think that was the tip that led to all this.

I think I saw the child that maybe was mistaken for Cupcake. I honestly thought it was her myself except for the fact that she was there with an adult who was first holding her hand and then picked her up, and no fuss was being made. It was strange that they were both standing by the door when LE passed them to go inside.
A 3 year old wouldn’t make a fuss if the person that was holding them was telling them that they were waiting for her Mom to get there.

Are we sure Brown has no connection? found this case from earlier this year that covers her being charged for kidnapping her three daughters (one was 2 at the time) from their custodial caregiver. This lady has serious issues. Her children were removed because of an "abusive" situation (wonder if her friend Stallworth is involved in that situation) and I am assuming that case back in January is what her probation that is now revoked was over because of her involvement in THIS incident.

If there is a connection, it hasn’t been released. That previous kidnapping was a custodial issue, and the best hope for Cupcake is that something like that happened here.

As far as we know though, that is not the case. And you’re absolutely right, she has serious issues.

Her bond was revoked because she admitted to contacting witnesses involved in that ongoing case.

What the heck is going on?
I just came back to read she has been found, and then that she has not been found.

It has been one heck of an emotional roller coaster to say the least. I need a nitroglycerin and I don't even have a heart problem.

No fuss from LE or medics is what I meant. Not from the little girl. LE was walking right past them.

Are they

trying to kill us?
I can't imagine how the family must feel, to get their hopes up so much only to be disappointed again.

What a Blooming mess. It keeps getting bigger with more twist and turns than a maze. I don't know who jumped the gun, (police or media) but it is so heartbreaking to get the families hopes up only to dash them. Please pray for this family.

...was it a credible tip though? The sergeant said they found absolutely nothing that could aid in the investigation.

.......And provided a few hours of LE and the public being totally distracted elsewhere to move Kamille if her kidnapper wished to.

I'm going to go finish updating her media thread and I won't be including all of the tweets from today that incorrectly reported her found.

the good news is this was a credible tip to bring out all LE/SWAT etc. Maybe another tip is about to come in that really will lead to her being found - IMO

ETA: what was the source of this tip? I will have to go back and check the tweets/MSM - was it the grandma and a bounty hunter??? I'm hunting now but if anyone has the link - that would be terrific.
ETa - found link about bounty hunter
Alabama Amber Alert: Kamille ‘Cupcake’ McKinney still missing, police confirm
Birmingham Police have formed a large perimeter, cordoning off apartments in the 2700 block of Jefferson. Police sources tell CBS 42 they are following a tip from a bounty hunter on the abduction
I don't have a link so JMO, but they said on the live feed that someone (a resident?) told the family (grandma?) that they saw Cupcake there at that complex. Family called the BPD. MOO

We all know how reliable they are not after all this...but CBS 42 said a bounty hunter called in the tip.

Why is a bounty hunger involved?

This is unconscionable. Whichever member stated that there are people who heard she was found and will stop looking is correct. There are people who heard or read “found” who then turned off their TV or computer and are no longer looking for Cupcake because they believe she’s been found alive. I don’t have the words to write how I feel about this horrendous situation.

Well, I really don’t think those people are combing the streets and now will stop. This story is huge news in the area. People will soon find out that she’s still out there and I’m sure will continue to call in reports of children who look like Cupcake.

The real tragedy of this is how it took people who loved her or care about this child on a monstrous roller coaster and made people distrust the sheriff and the media reporting what the sheriff said.

It wasn’t the lead agency that screwed up, it was the sheriff.

He apparently wanted the attention that comes from being the one to break the news.

He’s sure getting attention now...

I know. This isn’t bad media reporting. It came from LE.

Well it is good possible sightings are being called in. Sadly I am back to my original theory and I don't feel Cupcake will be found in an apt. IMO

  • #638
I'd like to know what other poor little girl was found and was being taken to the hospital to be checked out. What were the circumstances?

Probably just making sure it wasn’t her because it looked like the same child.

That's what I wondered when we first heard the family had received a tip. It could have been a little girl who looked like Cupcake who was seen there.
Imo

Missing 3-year-old Kamille McKinney not found in morning search
[...]

Members of the girl's family, including McKinney’s grandmother Lekisha Simpson, were at the Marlin Apartments as law enforcement officers searched, ABC 33/40 reported.

Simpson said investigators were following a tip that the girl was seen nearby.

"I'm afraid this is a false lead, and she's really been taken somewhere else across town," Simpson said, according to ABC 33/40.
