Isn't he only 11 though? My point earlier is that a reporter should not take the word of an 11 year old. Clearly a confusing situation for all these professional adults on the scene, much less a kid. Media has procedure to follow for confirmation and IMO they didn't seem to follow it.

The family needs to do a better job protecting him from the media.

Money, 6k reward. They look for people for the reward money.

IMO Bounty hunter must have some information that is credible and pertinent to finding Cupcake if the FBI/LE are collaborating with him/her and allowing their participation in such a high profile case. I haven’t followed a case like this in a while but I can’t recall a time when a bounty hunter was actively participating with FBI/LE in a national kidnapping investigation. JMO

During a press conference Tuesday, Birmingham Police Chief Patrick Smith continued his appeal to the public because he knows a lot of people were at the party and other events happening in the area Saturday night when Kamille was kidnapped. He added that he knows someone has video, cellphone video or information that could help find the child. bbm

Regarding the previous reports that Kamille McKinney had been found.

Jefferson County Sheriff Mark Pettway told CBS 42’s Art Franklin in a phone call that he had received misinformation from one of his deputies in the field.

3:13 PM - 16 Oct 2019

Even then he shouldn’t have gone to the media with that information. He should have waited for confirmation that a child had been recovered, and it was Cupcake.

Weak sauce.

Is it possible that the child’s whereabouts are known but the child is unsafe and they are squashing all rumors to not jeopardize the safety of Cupcake? My personal speculations only. I don’t know why else a bounty hunter is involved and family members said she was found safe. I am a realist and rarely optimistic about these sorts of cases but I think the child will be found alive. IMO #prayingforCupcake

IMO, LE has gone down the rumor rabbit hole and got tunnel vision.

Reporters should not have been talking to the 11 year old brother and they certainly shouldn’t be using an 11 year old as their “source “. Do we know if there were other family members confirming the now false “found” reports and if there were other family members who they were? I’m wondering who these other family members are if they confirmed it. Was it second cousin Ethel’s mother-in-law’s brother’s son? IYKWIM
Apparently it was one of the deputies who called in and said she had been found.
I didn't see a source or any interview with a family member confirming it, although they may have thought it was Cupcake who had been found at first.
They must be devastated that it was not her. Imo

I think there was so much whisper-down-the-lane, who knows if it was even the brother who said it.

I'm also a little confused on why the whole family started off present at the scene...then we got reports of moving them to a different area away from the general public (makes sense)..and then at least on CBS 42 they said multiple times that the mother and then said the family was at the headquarters of BPD before all the commotion was even near over.

The BH would be working on his own.

It is weak but can’t blame 42 for reporting it since it came from a deputy at the scene. This is all on the sheriffs office. BTW, Pettway is relatively new. He was elected last year replacing a VERY longtime sheriff. I think he has good intentions but has been overhauling the department since his election. It’s not an excuse but more of a rookie mistake.

It’s a bit of an optical illusion. That is a multi building apartment complex and where the family was located was well away from the real action that was impossible for the camera to capture. It wasn’t till the end, when the swat team arrived to go in the last building they appeared close. Rest of the time everything was taking place out of eyeshot.

I wondered something like this as well! Like others mentioned, it's really strange that the FD and EMS didn't come to the scene until everything was almost done. The Grandmother was there almost the entire duration of the search. The police seem firm on there being other POIs.

So, I wondered if they did find her or at least determine her whereabouts but aren't confirming it to keep her safe or if they did find her, to keep an important witness safe from whoever is running this. Maybe they just need to buy some time to catch up to whoever orchestrated this. I know this sounds crazy but my brain just keeps trying to make the pieces come together and still produce a happy ending for Cupcake.

ETA: so sorry it's still my first day but it looks like we are supposed to MOO at the end of our posts. I googled it and I know we aren't mooing (haha I make jokes when i'm flustered) but everything I said is just MOO.

I'll tell you what. If my granddaughter was missing and I had to endure something like that? I'm pretty sure they would have an ambulance on standby for me. No joking.

I've updated her media thread through this last page of posts that are MSM links. What an emotional rollercoaster to go back to the beginning of little Cupcake's kidnapping. I did not include links from pages 6 on until the page where it was absolutely confirmed by LE that she was still missing and the Amber Alert is still active. I'm heartsick ...again. JMO

Please note - anyone can update the media thread but you must provide a MSM link and only 10% of the article can be posted. Thanks

She may not look like Cupcake at all is the whole problem. I swear I read somewhere someone "saw her pigtails". Really?

JMO
I saw that also.

Whilst watching the live stream on WSFA-TV the reporter reiterated on more than one occasion that no confirmation had been provided that cupcake had been found. He took 2 calls from a deputy/sgt at BPD and at no time was there any info of this nature given.

I think that poor 11 year old has been through enough.
