The most disturbing of the false report, many may think she has been found and stop searching.

The press was not contained. They were allowed behind the yellow line unsupervised. If, in fact they spoke to the 11 yo brother, then the press had to be deep behind the line.

This is a dangerous situation to leave press unsupervised/contained. Anybody could slap on a fake Press Pass and enter the secured area. This puts all at risk, LE, family and the folks that live in the complex. It could be a shooter, someone can take a person hostage, and in this case very damaging false information.

I hope BPD Chief learns from this serious mistake. I hope the BPD PR rep. will be more involved in communicating with the press in a contained press area or keep them on the other side of the yellow line.

This looks bad for the BPD and the Sheriff, who some press site as the source, LIVE on TV.

I hope they regroup and listen and take the advice of the FBI. Those FBI folks know the ropes and can help BPD manage the media. If they will listen, to them. Now they are in a damage control situation.

I'm holding my breath (lol) waiting on a presser. This is certainly more important than the presser announcing the Governors Proclamation for the reward.

I mean this with the up most respect and intent.

Whilst watching the live stream on WSFA-TV the reporter reiterated on more than one occasion that no confirmation had been provided that cupcake had been found. He took 2 calls from a deputy/sgt at BPD and at no time was there any info of this nature given.
I thought he himself stated that's what happened. This is getting confusing.
Didn't he make a statement that one of his deputies called him and gave him the wrong information at first?

I think this is in reference to the reporter - not the sheriff. The problem IMO today was so many live reports from the scene with each giving their own opinions on what was happening and then when the Sheriff said she was found - but BPD would not confirm it - everything was in chaos until it all settled back down with BPD re-confirming it was not her, she was not found. I've updated her media thread through this last page of posts that are MSM links. What an emotional rollercoaster to go back to the beginning of little Cupcake's kidnapping. I did not include links from pages 6 on until the page where it was absolutely confirmed by LE that she was still missing and the Amber Alert is still active. I'm heartsick ...again. JMO

Please note - anyone can update the media thread but you must provide a MSM link and only 10% of the article can be posted. Thanks
Thank you again, oviedo. I will add whatever links I post here to the media thread as well. :) MOO

They were not. You could see them in the live reports behind the line.

Yes - this! I was switching between WFSA-TV and CBS42 but the latter one felt like a circus. Loud reporters rather excited saying she had been found.

And I'll just add to this that the reporters are professionals. They should know better than to cross the tape. Thats on them if they do.

Correct - not from BPD. See below. MOO

WEIS Radio on Twitter
Regarding the previous reports that Kamille McKinney had been found.
Jefferson County Sheriff Mark Pettway told CBS 42’s Art Franklin in a phone call that he had received misinformation from one of his deputies in the field.

Ok. So was it the sheriff that said his deputy called? Or the BPD chief?

Oh, okay. So it's the BPD who said he did not get such a call.

In all honesty, all the video feeds I saw were from behind the yellow tape. I thought a lot of the info the reporters were getting from LE was via cell phone. I thought they did a pretty good job of containment. Unfortunately, no one can control what comes out of their mouths.

Yes, they were the ones reporting the accurate information and the Sheriff was the one who got the call from his deputy saying she had been found.
I got the two mixed up.
Thanks!

Yeah sorry. So the reporters were Infact just receiving calls from LE.

In the UK we don’t have mass hysteria like this so it’s an eye-opener. Everything is very much hush hush
