The chief on Friday also asked volunteers to come forward to help with a grid search on Sunday. The search will be in one area investigators found was frequented by a person of interest, Smith said.

Smith has repeatedly said he believes others are involved in Kamille’s disappearance, which remained evident in the
message he delivered at a press conference held Wednesday.
"Through our investigation and through statements, we’ve pretty much been able to identify the children and the second gentleman,'' Smith said. “What we’re trying to do is close the loop on the third individual in the video who was the first one who walks by as the children are playing.”
According to other children in the area at the time, a man was handing out candy to children in the area.
"We want to see if he has additional information or if he saw something that night that may be critical in this investigation,'' the chief said.
“We haven’t closed the door on Birmingham or anywhere else yet,’’ he said.
Kamille McKinney abduction: Police release surveillance video from night of disappearance
Police have been searching for Kamille since Saturday night, when witnesses told them that she left a party at Birmingham's Tom Brown Village housing community with a woman in a dark-colored SUV.

Kamille was abducted about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Tom Brown Village public housing community off Messer-Airport Highway in Avondale. She was outside with friends when she disappeared. Other children said a man – who had been offering children in the neighborhood candy - got out of an SUV and snatched Kamille.
Several groups of citizens have conducted ground searches in the Center Point area, Smith said anyone wanting to help in the search for Kamille should first stop by the department’s on site command post on Messer Airport Highway so “we have a coordinated effort and we’re all working together to resolve this.”
Multiple theories, and even accusations, have surfaced in the public surrounding the case, especially on Facebook. Asked about that, Smith said, “Social media is always going to do exactly what it does. It is our job to stay focused on the investigation. While we monitor social media, we try not to allow that to take us astray. We don’t focus on rhetoric, we focus on facts."
