It was only a singular young child that witnessed it. They could have noticed she was gone and thought she wandered off and ran around panicked looking for her in absolute chaos I'm sure before they even heard what the child had to say. Their first instinct was likely not that she got taken by someone in front of all these people. For all we know the kid who witnessed already went home before they even noticed she was gone and it didn't get back to them for hours after. A million different things may have happened.
A few posts above yours said that “children” reported she was taken into a vehicle, and the based on the Amber Alert time, it clearly was hours later when they had this information.

I’m sticking with ridiculous.

They could use SAR dogs starting right from where she was last seen, at the B-day party.
See where the dogs indicate.
Just a thought.
Would they be able to indicate at all if she was taken via car and driven who knows where?

It isn’t unusual for cops to hold the wrong POI in questioning for hours upon hours to then clear them or have the wrong person. It happens all the time.

I doubt they’ve lawyered up. If so I would think they’d be out by now.

I apologize and have posted a clarification for Cody22’s and peppertheyorkirpoo
Posts.
Sorry for the confusion I should have included a <snip> to indicate she might be barefoot because her shoes were found in the parking lot where the birthday-day party was taking place and indicated it was a quote from Deputy Chief Prayor

She may be barefoot, as her shoes were found in the parking lot.(of the Tom Brown Village where she lived and the birthday party took place. :(

Thank you, that is what I thought, of course, it would have been great if the shoes had been found in the parking lot of the condo.

courts.ms.gov says 48 hours according to this:

That's 48 hours after arrest. What we need to know is how many hours can they hold someone BEFORE making an arrest. They are only detained at the moment (or have been released and we wouldn't necessarily know it)

I believe 24 hours.

This was exactly what I was thinking. If they haven’t lawyered up by now, they will have to be charged or released soon. I think a big piece of the puzzle in releasing them will be the forensics on the vehicle in question. No evidence and they would probably have to release them without anything substantial. There’s missing pieces to this puzzle of course.

Time stamp if correct of happy or whatever he was arm guy is 7:41 p.m. Oct. 13th.
Thank you, Bravo. So, he was grinning and holding his hands up in the air after he allegedly abducted her. Ugh. Can you link the source for the timestamp if it's not too much trouble? I looked for it and couldn't find it. MOO

There was a post with quotes from an article where “Dad” (don’t know his name so I’m calling him Dad) said something about “we” have checked everywhere in the apartment complex, seemingly including himself as searching along with police.

I am curious why Dad and Mom both along with all adults from the party weren’t being held and interviewed? It seems like a really bad idea for parents to be out searching alongside police.

Maybe I misunderstood.

I think I’ve read enough here and elsewhere to have a pretty good (general) idea of what has happened here, so I think I’m going to lower my blood pressure and stay away from the thread until officials finally tell us what happened.

Forensics take time, especially DNA. Would be really difficult to get it back that fast.

BPD Chief: Family searched for Kamille before calling for help
[...]
“As many families think that they can resolve their issue on their own, they think that they can do just a quick search of the neighborhood or area to find a missing person or missing child,” said Chief Smith during a news conference. “There was a little bit of a delay in getting the information to law enforcement so we can conduct a thorough grid search of the entire area before putting out an Amber Alert.”

It’s unclear how long the delay was.

Birmingham Police were first called to the Tom Brown Village Saturday night at 8:29. About three hours later, an Amber Alert was issued. Chief Smith said his officers worked as quickly as possible, searching the area, interviewing people and determining whether McKinney’s case met the criteria to issue an Amber Alert.
