If they don’t make a plea (for LWOP), the family will have to go through a very traumatizing trial. What does the family hope will happen? Has “the public” asked them before they made this petition? As much as these 2 deserve the death penalty, my thoughts are for the family. They deserve to grieve in peace. I hope that whatever happens, Cupcake’s family are protected....somehow. MOO

The Death Penalty would be worth any traumatization the family might need to endure just like Cupcake had to endure being traumatized.
The Death Penalty (but carried out within a week) would soon reduce this kind of evil from happening again and again.
When are we going to start making needed changes in our legal system to protect our children?

Push for Kamille “Cupcake” McKinney law
An online petition is asking that a federal law, mandating 24/7 video cameras in apartment complexes, including public housing, be named in honor of three year old Kamille Cupcake McKinney.

[...]

Some Alabama lawmakers object to mandating all apartment complexes install video cameras, but they admit to being moved by McKinney’s death.

"As a parent we all are broken hearted. Just thinking about our own children when you see something like that. Its heart breaking. It just breaks your heart,” Sen. Cam Ward (R) Alabaster said.

[...]

“I get the passion, wanting to do something. I think you need a holistic approach. One, how you handle someone who shouldn’t have been on the street to begin with. Two, how do you handle proper lighting. Three, proper security measures,” Ward said.

[...]

“Anything to help deter the crime is a good thing. But, I’m going to wonder how long it’s going to last. I guarantee you it won’t there too long. You are going to have target practice when it goes up,” Rogers said.

The Birmingham Housing Authority has beefed up security, in part by agreeing to a $3.6 million agreement with the police department for increased patrols.

Sorry, it won't happen

It is probably about time the police released some info about the evidence they have before things like this grow legs and take hold ... and create reasonable doubt in any future jury. imo

Wow that's bizarre, Lets hope LE have some DNA evidence that proves otherwise, IMO.
And what were the perps. doing in the area right at the time Cupcake was abducted?
And there were witnesses as well.

I don't know if LE will release anything further about the case yet? I gather there will be a Preliminary hearing at some stage, and the State will be building their case against the perpetrators of the crime, so probably don't want to divulge too much information prior to a Trial.
I'm just hoping the State's case is a strong one, which i think it will be.

I'm also anxious for the arraignment since I've also raised the question as to whether the right man was behind bars.

IMO, whoever did this to KM could not have been his first time, and PS has no criminal history! (His record limited to misdemeanor MJ possession charge 15 years ago). Not to mention PS's family reaction to bond him out in record time. None of that follows.

And if KM's own family raising the same suspicion, they might be on to something...

MOO

Cousin continued speaking (video played during WVTV 13 newscast) which included a transcript. Otherwise it's difficult (for me) to understand her comments. MOO

It's too late at night for me to absorb this.

Oh man, then why the charges for murder?

There is so much gossip and crap going around elsewhere, I don't know how LE managed to find the two in jail so fast! They have their hands full!

I do think that they had something to do with the kidnapping part of it. The murder part- no clue. Depends on what the evidence is. I mean, they drove him in a cage for God's sake for his court appearance. I have to believe there's some DNA evidence or video of him and DB being involved.

But he’s a black man in Alabama... it’s happened many times before...
his is incredibly worrisome and I hope they do indeed have plenty of evidence against him that make it clear that they took the little ones life.. hope they didn’t jump the gun to pacify the community and likely their own hearts..

When law enforcement found the man and the vehicle they were looking for, they found a suspect with child 🤬🤬🤬🤬, and another suspect who had kidnapping in her past.

As a result of finding these two people, they ultimately found Cupcake’s body.

Although it is odd that a guy who committed a crime like this has no significant criminal past, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t not gotten lucky in the past.

Not murder, but crimes like sexual abuse/assault.

I continue to believe that this was sexually motivated, and that law enforcement has the right people. They clearly believe they have enough evidence to charge these two with capital murder, so it’s far more probable than not that there is compelling evidence to support those charges.

This case is weird, but I think we’ll see convincing evidence once it is disclosed.
