Chief says, "I am not aware that that was the purpose he was in Nashville for."

Chief says, "He is our only suspect."

Chief says, "We do know why he was up there (speaking of Nashville)."

I like this police chief.

Respectfully, now that there has been an arrest, could the thread title be changed to reflect the facts? (He was out of town when she was discovered, not when she was killed.)

I have felt all along that the thread title (inadvertently) indicated that he could NOT be a suspect the way it is worded. And maybe an "ARREST" added?

I was shocked to come on here tonight and saw the title of this topic, but I am so glad that an arrest has been made after such a long time. To think that it could be her husband/Pastor is just hard to comprehend.
A man of God, a husband, those two do not go together to equal a murderer. So many other ways to solve his problems.

But, to answer your question, until the press conference today, I had never heard of that rumor. I tend to doubt its veracity.

I wonder why Mr. Shahan was leaving from Nashville International Airport (when he was arrested)... And not from an airport in Alabama? :waitasec:

One of his sons lives in Nashville I believe, and maybe goes to school there, maybe works there. But, I really don't know. Would he have still been living in the church owned house?

I bet the Hobby Lobby ladies are beside themselves with this news. I just have the feeling that they have known all along.

Thank goodness the computer system flagging is working at the airport.

They got him in the nick of time.

Augh...and his lawyers are complaining because the police didn't "give them the professional courtesy" of letting them know they had gotten a warrant?

Here's an interview with one of Karen Shahan's friends that worked with her at Hobby Lobby. She said that Karen loved him and always spoke highly of him.

but... I had to jump in and say that I am impressed that LE was on this case the whole time... And that Karen may now receive justice!

So... The good pastor was trying to flee to Germany.....

and presser is today!

He was not fleeing to Germany. He was given permission to go then a warrant issued just before he arrived. He had no idea they were even looking for him.

I would love to see the look on his face. He figured once that plane was in the air he was home free. SHAME ON YOU MR PASTOR !

And after the court system has its final say, don't forget you've got an afterlife issue to deal with. ''Man of God'', sickening !

Whatever happened to innocent before PROVEN guilty?
We are awfully quick to jump at what we "think" is the truth. Remember this man has family and friends just like we all do.
Maybe a prayer before an instant judgment would be better?

Because there are no direct flights out of Birmingham to Germany it is much cheaper, and his family lives in TN. Maybe he was saying goodbye because he planned on being gone 3 years. it was not a secret and he was not running. When you run you don't tell everyone. He told many people his plans including his lawyers.
