I am glad to hear this as I was worried it would be another case where the victims are given up on too soon.

concerned person - I'm with you that they may give up to soon, but I do think Kim's family is pushing to find both Kim and Haliegh. At least that's the impression I got from some of the media reports and I sure do hope that is true.

It seems it took some time before it made the media at all.

Despite a massive ground search, there's still no sign of a missing mother and daughter in Jackson County.

A search warrant was executed Thursday and wrapped up Saturday at the family's home and surrounding 40-acres on Jackson County Road 38 in Section.

Kim Whitton and her 11-year-old daughter Haleigh Culwell were last seen June 21st.

Investigators aren't saying what, if anything, the search revealed.

They're also not saying if foul play is suspected in their disappearance, but they are asking for help solving this case.

A toll free FBI tip line has been set up. That number is 1-877-628-2533.

Right now Barry Whitton is in federal custody on weapons charges. He has a hearing on Tuesday at 3 o'clock in Huntsville. That's when they'll decide to hold him or set bond.

Bond was denied for a local man whose wife and step-daughter are missing.

Barry Whitton is now being called a suspect in the disappearance of his wife and step-daughter.

Kim Whitton and 11 year old Haleigh Cullwell. have been missing since June 21st.

Blood was found in a truck, hatchet and in a structure on the Whitton property.

It is undetermined if this blood is Kim or Haleigh's.

Whitton will remain in jail without bond on federal weapons charges.

Any time you have a person, especially a mother and child, who normally keep in contact with family members and suddenly disappear without a trace is suspicious. I just truly believe the husband had something to do with this.

The magistrate judge said he was "extremely disturbed" by a 1988 psychological report of Whitton that showed he retaliated against people by torturing and killing their animals.

Jeffrey Purcell, a federal probation officer, testified that he considers Whitton a flight risk and a danger to the community.

Purcell said that in the psychological report Whitton said his solution to dealing with problems and people was to live in the woods away from everyone.

"I'm like a wolf," he said Whitton told mental health examiners. "I take what I want."

Purcell said the psychological report was prepared after Whitton was charged with escape and several counts of theft. He said Whitton was not convicted of those charges.

Purcell testified that Whitton said in the report that "when people do something to me, I feel like I got to get them back."

The psychological report said Whitton told his interviewer that he killed a neighbor's dog and hung its skin on the neighbor's door knob, the agent said.

This article is upsetting on many levels. But the one most explicit level is there is evidence and cause for further investigation. There is no reason that it shouldn't have evolved to the next step.Someone was impeding the progress. I think local communities need to really look at who they are entrusting with justice.JMO. But, criminy there is a reason to look further in this case. It won't be a good resolve for the mother and daughter. Again, JMO.

Adding how can a small community live with this?

"I know exactly what they feel. I know their hurts. I know their pain. The 14th of next month will be 9 years that my daughter, Christy, come up missing. I'm not giving up. I'll still search for her until the Lord takes me home," said Chief Morrison.

It's nine difficult years Chief Morrison hopes he can use to help someone else.

He plans to visit Kim and Haleigh's family this weekend, giving them a shoulder to cry on and understanding very few can offer.

Chief Morrison is also wanting to talk with Kim and Haleigh's family and law enforcement about organizing a massive search. He says he has the contacts. All he needs is the word "go."

Yeah, I don't think its a question of who so much as what happened to them and where are they. I hope they are able to get a large search going with a pro group such as Texas Equusearch or something....

Have you ever heard of Chief Morrison before? I searched for his daughter, but did not see a thread for her. I could go look on the NCMEC website.....

Offering hope is something Chief Morrison is good at. He works with the national organization "Team Hope." It's part of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

"I do calls and counseling all over the United States for kids that come up missing," said Chief Morrison.

Well, he's kinda got one foot in the door so to speak working with this organization. It sounds encouraging that he's available to see the family and offer support, etc.
