I live 5 miles from the location. My kids play ball at that park located right by the first site.. there’s a junk/tow yard maybe 100feet straight up the road. It has been known for squatters in the past. However, the taxes are only up to date till 2018. This home has been vacant for a while. However, there are not the best apartments maybe 1 mile from the location. This little section of hueytown, isn’t the best.

You wouldn’t randomly pick this neighborhood. Hueytown police are always everywhere and will pull you over for the little thing! Super shocked considering Bessemer is literally 5 miles away where it’s basically “ the hood or completely run down”.

No. After the autopsy is done, there’s usually no reason to hold on to the body.

What is a bit odd, is that we haven’t heard the results yet. But I think that’s because there hasn’t been an arrest.

In my opinion, they're withholding so much information from release to the public because they're interviewing a lot of suspects who are all accusing each other and the only way to figure out which story is true is to compare it to the hard evidence. If the evidence becomes public then everybody starts changing their story to accommodate.

Do we have independent confirmation that Paighton actually called her mom from work three times a day every day? Because I'm pretty dubious of that, likewise that she's "always very cautious". It's understandable to want to exalt a lost loved one in the media but I like to think this forum gravitates to reality.

I have only heard it reported by her parents. That said, my SIL has a very similar relationship with my MIL in that she is over 30 and calls to check in multiple times per day amongst many other "controls" that would be unusual and considered poor boundaries in many mother-daughter relationships. But, my SIL has been a drug addict for over 15 years; in 2 rehabs, had long stints of sobriety, relapses, etc. That type of behavior is generally rooted in fear and protection, although it is rarely an effective means of preventing relapse. Jefferson County sheriff’s Chief Deputy David Agee said on Friday that as of now, Paighton’s case is being treated as a “death investigation” only. Whether the death is a homicide will be determined after the cause of death is revealed.

I actually feel like this statement says a lot about what LE knows at this point. It almost sounds as if someone has told them "what happened" and LE is just wanting to confirm what they told them. At that point then it will be up to LE to decide that "someone" was either, NOT RESPONSIBLE in any way for the death of PH, or that "someone" WAS RESPONSIBLE for the death of PH in some way.

Even if they decide that "someone" is not responsible for her death, I think it will be highly likely that some type of charges such as "abuse of a corpse" to be filed. It could also be possible that some sort of aiding or some other type charge could happen.

Since the police showed very little urgency, I feel like they've known all along that something had already happened and it was just getting the pieces to fall into place.

Autopsies are actually completed fairly quickly -- it's the toxicology reports that can take months for the results (and delay learning the cause of death).

I was surprised by this as well. I expected that PH would not receive her proper burial until after an autopsy/toxicology report had been completed. My understanding is that all of that normally takes a good bit of time. Is there anyone in this thread who would have expert or professional knowledge on why her funeral could be taking place more quickly than we might have expected? (A coroner, someone who works at a funeral home, anyone who has been involved with determining COD in cases before, etc.)

AA believes that the most valuable sponsor is a person who has been through it themselves. A mother's love is priceless but the support of someone who truly understands and who you aren't afraid to disappoint is valuable

Yes, it seems WS has a lot of scripts, so it can cause problems with browsers, unfortunately. The Brave browser alleviated it for others I've discussed it with - give it a try if you'd like.

Both parents gave interviews and made these statements on the air within the first hours of reporting PH missing. That was more than 2 weeks ago and news video not archived as long as news articles but I think enough of us can confirm we heard it. Inside edition may still be available -- I think mom said same to them.

I don’t think so. Autopsies that I’ve read about here have been conducted in one day. They get their blood samples, etc. There’s really no reason to hang onto the body any longer.

This does make me wonder though if there have been autopsies that have required more than one day that perhaps I just haven’t heard about. Surely there have been some? Maybe some dismemberment cases? Or ones with extensive decomp or other complicated facets?

In a case like this, they’ll definitely do a toxicology report.

I don’t see that holding up the autopsy findings, unless they can’t figure out a cause of death, and have to wait for those results.

This are good questions. I thiiiiink toxicology is always run??? Maybe?? @carbuff ?? But, what if someone dies as a mass shooting victim, why would they run tox though, for example? I’d like to know the answer to this for sure. Perhaps it varies with the circumstances. Idk...

We’ve seen MOD and COD come back before tox comes back—for example, Cupcake, her COD came back as asphyxiation, and then weeks later after tox came back we learned those monsters gave her meth. (She was THREE btw )

My brother is a heavy set guy and goes to a lot of bars. He's not a bouncer. So it's a possibility but not known. Are you able to dig into the bar and see if they have bouncers that fit that description? Maybe from other pictures at the bar?

I don't know if the site I'm looking at is accurate or up to date but I found 36 sex offenders in Hueytown alone. One is black, 6' 6" and 296 pounds. His offense was rape 1st degree. He lived about 5 minutes away from the Chapel Dr address. Only on number 3, working my way down the list. There was another one that was over 200 pounds but only 5' 1".

I have my own theory regarding the suspects. Wouldn't it seem appropriate to at least release the approximate descriptions of the men? They probably have videos or at least descriptions of the suspects...if they are killers, other women in the community could be in danger. The University of Alabama is right there in Birmingham.
