1. The person she texted “I feel in trouble” (paraphrased) has been described as a friend and as a coworker. I’d like to know which. Did Paighton text her because she felt close enough to ask for help, or just because she knew the person was out/awake and possibly nearby. Would a close friend allow a recovering addict with no transportation to just leave? How did she expect Paighton to get home safely? Even after a major argument I think a true friend would’ve tried to stop her from leaving. Moo
2. Did she text or call anyone else? She seems almost unusually close to her mother, possibly due to trying to stay accountable. Imo, most 29 year old women don’t text their mom when they get to work, when they take their break and when they leave. With that type of typical communication, did she attempt to reach her mother? Parents often tell their kids (even adult children) if you’re in trouble, call me.
3. When did she come into contact with the two men? Had they been customers of the Tin Roof and been there for awhile too? Were they watching Paightons group of friends? If they were bouncers, I think we’d know, other bar patrons would notice them likely sitting by the door. In fact, do we even know they were inside? Did Paighton leave the bar and then come into contact with them outside?
4. the friend not receiving the text until the following day seems odd. Even if the friend left immediately after Paighton left, 1.5 hours seems kinda fast to go from bar to not checking phone. Maybe she had it on silent, but 12:15 is kinda early on a Friday night to be so deeply asleep (assuming because why else wouldn’t she check her phone) not to hear a text, especially because I’d be waiting to hear from her knowing she left without a ride. Idk...just isn’t sitting right with me and I think we’ve been told a very watered down, half true story with the argument/leaving/text timeline.
