Madison County murder suspect now facing sex abuse charges

Kyle Lewter was arrested for murder after the body of Derek Walls was found inside a home on Capshaw Road in Harvest.

Now, a day after his arrest, Lewter is now additionally charged with sexual torture - sexual abuse using inanimate object. At this time it is unknown if these charges are related to the murder of walls.

The victim and accused knew each other.

"In an effort to ensure accurate information is shared with the public about Sheriff’s Office investigations we want the community to know that Sheriff’s Detectives confirmed very early at the crime scene on Thursday that the victim was NOT shot, and the Sheriff’s Office never reported to the media or public that he was,” a post on social media stated. “As we reported the victim and offender knew each other and got into a physical altercation that resulted in the victim being injured. It appears he died as a result of those injuries. Detectives are awaiting autopsy results, but again we have confirmed that the victim was not shot.”

According to court records, Lewter on March 5 used "a plunger handle and forcefully inserted it in the anus area while victim was still alive." This led to the sexual torture charge.

Additional records state that on March 6 Lewter used a hammer to kill Walls by blunt force. This lead to the murder charge.

Lewter is due in court late Tuesday afternoon, and WAAY will be there.
