Defense attorney Dani Bone said he plans to appeal, saying, "Joyce Garrard did not receive a fair trial." He noted that the judge excluded medical evidence that the defense wanted to present. He also repeated his assertion that the defense has evidence at least four jurors were on Facebook during the trial, despite the judge's admonitions to avoid social media.

-----

Because Thursday was Garrard's birthday, deputies allowed her to hug relatives across the short wall that separates the front of the courtroom from the spectators before court opened in the morning.

Joyce embraced her husband Johnny Garrard for several minutes, rubbing his back and the back of his head as she and her relatives wept.

Afterward, she sat down at the defense table and stared at her son and Savannah's father, Robert, who was in the courtroom for the first time. He sat directly behind the prosecution table and did not appear to return the eye contact.

Well.. I left to read the news about Noah Thomas... decided to take a break after that and the verdict came in after I left. Should have known.
Im very glad she was already found guilty and is going to pay now for what she did to Savannah. I wish it would have been the DP but... she didn't walk away from this and That's the important thing!!!
Thank you So much for all the Tweets.

Wouldn't it have been ironic to give her the DP on her BD. Blow out 'dem candles, granny.

Jury forman speaks out.

http://www.al.com/news/anniston-gadsden/index.ssf/2015/03/savannah_hardin_jury_foreman_j.html

"A lot of people were like myself when it came to the question of intent," he said. "I'm not a lawyer, I'm a truck driver. I think when we heard intent, we were thinking of somebody waking up in the morning saying, 'I'm going to kill somebody today.' And that's not what intent really means. "

Keener said for him, Garrard crossed the line when she continued to tell Savannah to run after she was on the ground, vomiting, pleading to stop.

"(Garrard) intended to punish her at some point," he said. "But when (Savannah) was on the ground, throwing up, that was when she intended to harm her."

Keener said after the guilty verdict, he had more or less made up his mind to vote for life in prison, unless something swayed his mind. None of the testimony in the penalty phase did.

He was complimentary of lawyers for both sides, and very complimentary of Ogletree, whom he called "an absolute professional."

"If my life was on the line and I was at that defense table, I would have been pleased with him on the bench, from what I saw," he said.

Will victim impact statements be read on the official sentencing hearing set for May 11?

If so will the Savannah's absentee father - Robert Hardin- read one to his murderous mother?

Savannah's father never took the stand and was only in court on the day the sentence was read.

He was never in court to testify on Savannah's behalf.

He also has a lawsuit against the hospital that treated Savannah so maybe involvement with the case would effect him making a profit off his daughters murder.

Y'all need to check out the Justice for Savannah Hardin FB page. If the rumor is true, step mom has given birth to a baby girl....by another man....while still technically married to RH. Makes me sick! Just go read it. I don't want to get in trouble here by posting too much. EEK!

Oh my goodness .. what a beautiful child!!

I followed this case on WS but I never saw a picture of Savannah until now.

This really brings it home. How could any right minded human being do what was done to this child? And what makes it a thousand times worse is that it was done by those who were meant to love and protect her.
