AL AL - Selma, WhtMale Adult, UP86868, Found near Highway, Possibly from Ohio, Mar'99

  • #21
The decedent wasn't compared with 300 missing across the country it was compared to locals missing out of Alabama. Just saying what was actually said. So basically this was a preliminary search done days after the body was found. They looked for Alabama locals and didn't find anything.
My quote was based on the original post in the thread, but appears to be what is also in the 2nd news article (Selma Times) that was posted as shown below. Having said that, this was 1999 - so whatever comparisons were made might not have comprehensive.

Ed's wife Sharon was living in Selma, AL in 1998 and 1999. She had committed bigamy by marrying a local man there in 1996 while still legally married to Ed. In 2006 her marriage to the local man was annulled due to fraud (proof can be found in records in Dallas County, Alabama). In 2008 she plead guilty to stealing $44,000 from the Selma Chamber of Commerce where she worked and received 12 years in prison but was given probation. Interestingly, Ed and Sharon lived in Ohio in the late 80s and early 90s while he was stationed at Wright-Patterson AFB.

Dallas County, Alabama is quite a small county. US route 80 spans for about 35 miles through Dallas County. US route 80 also goes through Selma as well. The body of the decedent was found by US route 80 near the Alabama River which would place the bodies proximity to Selma 1-5 miles away. Not only that but it's also speculated that the decedent was a veteran.

Do you mind dropping any sources that are available online? There's not much I can find in regards to this.
