Alcala photos discussion thread - latest updates, news, questions

I spent half the day trying to figure out what kind of instruments they were playing and the picture even has that in the name ;-/ but after that I just looked for people who played that kind of instrument back in the 70s. I really need to get off the computer ;-)

I highly doubt Rodney will ever be executed. after all, he's 66 years old, coupled with the fact that California never executes anyone, I think he is safe from the green room. let's just all hope that he lives to be as old as he is wise. stop all the hate on Rodney, he doesn't deserve any of it.
I wonder if Alcala has access to a computer?

I don't think this is the place to come and defend Alcala. Perhaps another thread somewhere else. This is a thread to discuss the photos that Alcala took, and to try to identify victims and survivors.

I'm sorry to be stepping on anybody's toes. I just think posts in defense of Alcala would be better served elsewhere. Somewhere far, far away, preferably.

I have heard of women who"fall in love" with someone on deathrow. Yes, I am sure it is easy to have a relationship with someone who has been "convicted" of killing women as he tortured them and they probably begged for their lifes. Afterall, they can go to sleep at night and not worry about waking up in the morning because their prince in locked away and wont be torturing or killing them. Plus there is the possiblity of book deals, ten minutes of fame, etc.

Yup, I can see it and it leaves a sick feeling in the bottom of my stomach thinking that a person can be blinded by a sociopathic killer and not feel compassion for the victims whether there are one or many victims. One homicide breaks the hearts of many family members and friends and forever leaves them wondering why this monster can live longer then all of his victims did.

If you can influence Mr. Alcala to tell the investigators whatever he knows about the people in his photos and the fate of any other victims he might have had, that would be a good thing. Their families and loved ones deserve answers.

Creatures like Alcala cannot be 'influenced' by anyone. They are the ones in control until they get to where Alcala is now - without audience, without potential victims and without hope of setting foot on the green grass where he tortured many women. There is justice!

Remember, Alcala was his own 'attorney'. (hard to type that without laughing) and would be allowed, by law to have a computer to work on his appeal. Yes, this generally includes Internet but not certain how filtered the pages are without infringing on his 'rights'.
We are definitely in need of prisoner reform!

hmmm...afraid of the truth? as I said in my post, it is only my opinion, I'm sorry if it offends you but I have the right to speak my mind. I believe Rod is getting a bad rap and I am defending him via my opinions, I am sorry if this offends you but in the states isn't it innocent until proven guilty? he has not been convicted of murdering women in the photos that are being spoken about, and I have a right to defend his good name.

If you're already known to be a serial rapist and killer what kind of a bad rap can you get anymore? What's worse than that?

Maybe you can tell him that if he's worried about being unfairly suspected of hurting all these people in the photos he could help avoid that by giving the police all the information he can possibly remember about these people. Who are they, where he met them, when and where were the photos taken, what for, explain the suspicious situations that we have heard some of the unpublished photos depict, and so on.
It would help LE to locate these people and ascertain that they were all alive and well after meeting him.

This forum is for analyzing the pictures and helping LE and not for determining whether Alcala is innocent or guilty. He has been sentenced as guilty and that is the way we will be looking at him for the purposes here.

Just wanted to clear that up for everyone. :)

This is the photo I was looking at.

I don't think I really answered your question. In the second link in her bio under the picture she talks about running away from home at 14 and living a free life in the 70s. I felt that she looked like the girl in the picture.

IMO these women do not look like the Alcala picture of girls with a dulcimer. I am researching the idea that they might be related to the girl with donkey and part of a renaissance faire he attended.

xlurker, you could contact The Dulcimer Girls via their website and ask them if that is their picture. If you don't want to, I will. I am curious.

How common were those instruments in the 1970s? Even if it's not anybody who still plays it's a possibility that the players might have had contact with other players and somebody would remember someone who looked like that or perhaps somebody who used to play and went missing later.

rosierider if you would like to contact them and it's okay with websleuths, it's okay with me. I would like to know too.

It's okay, but do not mention WS without Tricia's permission. We don't have a rule on posters making contacts on their own, we just don't want to surprise Tricia if/when someone contacts her to say Websleuths contacted them and she is totally caught off guard. :)

I don't think they are very common now or then. These women might know other dulcimer musicians, especially if they are associated with the renaissance faires. They also might have suggestions about where to look.

OK. I contacted Dulcimer Girls via email. Hopefully she will answer. Cross your fingers.
