I was looking for something and found several photos I hadnt seen before.

Thats one of the major ones on there I hadnt seen before - it also has the red splatters on the photo that have been seen on some of the others.

On another note, How creepy is this photo??

I have to think shes one of the missing - her name is black under the photo on that slide show but the other girls are named.

The photo also looks like its been flipped, though I have no real reason to think that other than just looking at it.

Ive flipped the original photo and am linking it to show what I mean.

It looks like an art photograph to me. We tend to forget that Alcala was a student, then pro photographer. The photo reflects his nastier side, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was something he did in his photogaphy course. The spattering looks deliberate to me, not an accidental byproduct as we've seen in his other photos.

The girls in the other photos are his known victims and pictures of Alcala himself.

I was just scrolling down the photos,and i realized i knew one of the girls in two of the photos.My friend told me she thought she saw a mutual friend of ours in the photos while watching nancy grace and told me to check it out. Neither of us have heard from Beth in years,but we worked together back in 1981-1986.We both remember Beth talking to us about this guy named rodney she would write to him and go visit him while he was in prison,we're not sure about rodneys last name but it is Beth K******** in two of the photos. We both hope she wasnt one of the victims.


Brings two questions to mind, firstly what picture(s) might they be (too bad they didn't mention them) there are at least two according to her comment. But more importantly, this person apparently corresponded/visited with RA while he was in jail during the years between 81-86. So, since these pictures are supposedly prior to 1979, this girl must have known him for a while. I didn't catch this post earlier, even though it's dated March 14.

I can't really imagine keeping up a friendship with someone who is in prison for killing and raping a child, or several people. I just couldn't. What is the attraction?

Maybe she's in some of the trial footage.

She might be one of the already identified ones but if it's her in some of the photos it looks like LE dropped the ball a bit not recognizing her in 1979. They had talked to her, for Pete's sake.

I dont understand it at all - I wonder if these women ever think that given the chance he would bash their heads in just like he did with the others? I suppose its no different than the Ted Bundy trials that had rows of women giggling and swooning when he so much as looked over or the huge amount of 'fan' mail women wrote him.

Archivist, I emailed Huntingdon Beach PD about two weeks ago explaining how we'd tried to establish a timeframe for when these photos were taken, using the record albums as an example, but I haven't heard back from them. I had suggested they edit the people out of the X-rated photos and we could identify the items in the background, assuming they weren't all taken on that same blue sheet with nothing identifiable in the photos.

I agree, especially since she was a witness. Good grief, now I really do wonder if maybe his sister(s) are in those pictures too. I was trying to find a picture of this gal, so we could eliminate her, but I was using the spelling on the NG blog. Thanks for finding the correct one!

How does it feel know that my life could have easily ended in June of 1979 along with the other victims?

At the time Alcala photographed me he had already been convicted of two violent crimes**. When he was 24, Alcala kidnapped, sexually assaulted and tried to kill an 8 year old girl, hitting her over the head with a pipe. He escaped and was a fugitive for two years before he was arrested in Concord, N.H., living under the assumed name of “John Berger.” He was arrested in August, 1971 after someone saw his picture on a wanted poster

I could not agree more with that statement. Who decides that people like Phillip Garrido can go home because he's living with his wife and mommy now and that will make him okay? Seems like Alcala was in a similar situation.

If true, it's interesting that LE released these two pics...either they didn't recognize her or they did but their trying to find other related information??? I've searched for pictures of her but haven't been able to find any??? Has anyone else had better luck?

Okay, now I'm totally confused. How and why does NYPD have photos that they refuse to release, even when Huntington PD says they should, when, if I'm not mistaken, all the photos were originally in the possession of Huntington PD in the first place? Bizarre!

It appears to be mostly old news. I didn't look at all the photos but it seems to be the same people whose photos were already released a month ago and the identified ones are there.

However, there are some shots of these familiar looking people that are new to me so I'll have to check back later.

Yes. As far as I can tell it's the same people we've seen but there are different pictures of the peach blouse girl, the short curly haired nude, the dark haired boy in front of the ethnic print curtain, a smiling photo of the girl in the purple jacket, more blurry shots from the jazz club (BTW, whoever identified it as Five Spot was correct, check out picture 148 in the gallery), the blonde with unusual eye, the headphones brunette, the boy with the bike, a profile shot of the brunette with blue blouse, and the yellow shorts girl.

Is 163 the same girl we see in another shot with lots of eye make up? And is 205 the one who was in the identified list?

There is an uncropped shot of the communion girl in 182 showing who is holding her.

I stumbled across this girl and noticed the photographer mentioned. I am new here so forgive me if this is posted in the wrong place. Just reminded me of Alcala using the photography as a lure...possibly. Just wanted to see what everyone else thought.
