Multiple people were shot in Mississippi when gunfire erupted at Alcorn State University during the school's homecoming - the third shooting to take place at welcoming back events in the state this weekend.

All have been Homecoming weekend post football game celebrations. Unfortunately, this has been increasing in recent years but never so many all the same weekend.
I edited to clarify: the shootings happened during gatherings were people gathered to celebrate. Lots of alcohol, etc. I think in the recent past there have been issues of fights and maybe shooting in the air. Most have not made the news. Issues of shooting in the air on certain holidays have also been issues. I will wait and see if there is more to this or if there is a lot of copycats going on.
