Am reading it now and yes, there’s a lot to it! I’m not terribly far into it but damn, I swear my BP spikes whenever I read that AB states HH was directing him as to where to point the gun. I wonder what the witnesses have to say about that…..

Does anyone know..... when the particular gun used by AB gets loaded with blanks, dummies, or bullets... which one of those is the first to be used, if the trigger is pulled and the gun goes off, ie is it first-loaded is first-to-be-used, or the opposite.. or does it change/vary each time, with no telling which one would be first/last, etc?

It depends because even though it's an internal cylinder in that particular gun, it can still be rotated before firing. If I had to guess it would be the last bullet loaded since with a gun like that you load, rotate to the next spot, load, rotate, etc.

Hannah said on a podcast (and my dad said so too, when he gave me his revolver) that you load 5 bullets, with the empty chamber in front of the hammer. So, 5 bullets should be visible, from behind, but the empty chamber just sits there, acting as a kind of safety. No amount of pulling the trigger will fire anything,

So, one the hammer and that advances the next bullet (from the right side of the cylinder, AFAIK). If Alec kept cocking the hammer over and over, without pulling the trigger and without letting the hammer fall, another bullet would be in front of the firing pin.

We don't know the details of how many live rounds were in that gun. Hannah said she loaded it with 5 dummies that morning, but wanted to load it with 6 dummies (so that they could just keep pretending to shoot it and it would always look loaded, as is often done in Westerns). The 6th bullet, she had "problems" with so she says she cleaned out that empty chamber after lunch, put another dummy bullet in successfully and put it on the cart.

So she thought there were 6 dummies when she left it, but there was a live round in there (and we don't know which chamber held it). If Alec did what most people using a revolver would do, in order to shoot it, he had two ways of doing it (squeeze the trigger, it fully, then drop the hammer onto the firing pin without pulling the trigger again).

Others please weigh in, but this is my understanding.

HGR stated in her complaint, and others have said in various media reports, that the cylinder was manipulated between the time the rounds were put in and the time it was handed to AB. So I think there is no definitive statement that can be made about the relationship between sequence of loading and the live round ending up in the "next to fire" position.

Others please weigh in, but this is my understanding.

As I am only familiar with modern revolvers with modern features, I dont have the knowledge to weigh in regarding old west reproduction fire arms.

But.... two knowledgeable members posted detailed information in earlier threads on how old west revolvers work, and by extension how modern reproductions work.

Evidently the reproductions are very faithful to the originals with early reproductions being exact copies- replete with historic safety defects. More recent reproductions have an internal safety feature, but still function as the originals did.

The posts were really informative and I wish I could provide a summary, but I cant remember the quirks or old west revolvers and what exactly made them and their reproductions different than modern revolvers.

I wonder if everything she posted can be used in court?

But, it was definitely AB who posted at Christmas time, how important it was for him to be with his family. That was so tone deaf. Everything he posted can probably be used during the Civil lawsuit.

Alec Baldwin claims the wrong people are being charged in lawsuits related to the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins on the Rust film set.

Speaking Saturday at the Boulder International Film Festival, Baldwin told moderator Rod Bostwick “deep-pocket litigants” are being targeted, rather than those who were potentially negligent in the incident.

"What you have is a certain group of people, litigants and whatever, on whatever side, who their attitude is, ‘Well, the people who likely seem negligent have no money and the people who have money are not negligent,’ ” Baldwin said, as reported by CNN.

All my career, without incident, I’ve relied on the safety experts there to declare the gun safe and never had a problem, and this happened,” Baldwin said.

“Of course, this is to me sometimes it’s, it’s so surreal, I don’t even know what to say,” Baldwin added.

Baldwin talked of the support he’s received, pointing to his 40-years in entertainment without any safety issues.

“When someone, whose job is to ensure the safety of a weapon, hands someone else, whose job is to be the secondary layer of protection for safety of a weapon, and they hand you that weapon, you declare that that weapon is safe,” said Baldwin.

“That’s how I’ve done it my whole life because you’re not allowed as an actor to declare the weapon … I mean, the joke is, you don’t want the actors doing the safety check. They can’t even make coffee, they’re so stupid,” said the actor.

Hmm, and I always have been taught to treat every weapon you touch like it is loaded with bullets, unless you have personally checked and verified the weapon and the bullets.

George Clooney emphasised the importance of gun safety on set and mentioned that every time he is handed a gun on set, he opens and checks it. He also mentioned that he shows it to the person he will be pointing it at on-screen and to the crew too.

He revealed that he follows the protocol because of what happened to Brandon Lee and it is something everyone on set should follow. He mentioned that he hopes Baldwin did so as well, but also said that 'dummies are tricky' because they look like real rounds.

He mentioned that every time he is handed a 'six-gun' or a gun with six cartridges on set, he points it to the ground and must 'squeeze it six times' before his scene. He mentioned it would be 'insane not to' do so.

Sounds to me like AB is saying that since someone told him the gun was empty/safe that means he could handle the gun in an unsafe manner by pointing it at a person and pulling the trigger.

The fact that he didn't make sure the gun was empty himself is brushed off with a joke. He admits to pointing the gun at a living human being hoping that someone else didn't make a mistake.

These remarks don't help him at all in my opinion. JMO.

This is not a joke, AB.

He's done as an actor, IMO. And probably done as a director/producer. And I think he's soon going to be a lot less wealthy. He bears the ultimate responsibility for the death of Halyna.
