All Sauvie Island Searches

It did not sound to me as though Desiree was aware that this would be happening today?

I don't know much about search and rescue. Would it be unusual to be able to pull together an effort involving 100+ people with a couple hours' notice? Or would that typically be something that was in the works for days if not weeks?

I wonder if this was planned re-searching of a certain area, like they did with Skyline, to rule it out...we may never hear from LE about it, unless they find Kyron...

Today is the opening day of bow season here in Texas...hunters are out. Wonder if it's opening day in Oregon as well.

I've got knots in my stomach hearing this news. Wow..I wonder what prompted this!!!?? And pugglesworth raises an interesting question above...how long did they plan this search ahead, or was it a sudden thing? Any locals hearing any reasons what prompted this new search?

Maybe when a local checks in, they could tell us what the foliage is like?

free is out there right now and calling me with updates; will post if she reports something.
It's a beautiful day now, the clouds have burned off.
Lifeflight just went out that direction about 10 minutes ago (there are other things that direction tho).

Keep in mind, the waters are very very recessed right now...at the end of summer. The waters will be at their Lowest for the year and lowest tide on October 8th. They may have had a tip or are coming back to go back over areas that were previously submerged.

yep, deer hunting season started today. I wonder if a hunter found something and it prompted them to search the area again...

Lifeflight! Choppers!

My hubby saw it happening at 7am...said he saw SAR crews from many counties...not just MCSO. This had to have been somewhat planned.

I don't see anything on this incidents map that looks like it would be a Lifeflight call in that area (injury accident, etc) but bear in mind it shows *closed* calls only. So if they are still transporting someone it won't show up until the police have left the scene. There was an accident near my home and it didn't show up on this map until almost 2 hours later, for instance:

There is extremely limited bird hunting on SI, no deer hunting.

Lifeflight! Choppers!

I know, it always amps me up. I live near the hospital, so it's not necessarily related but I'd swear I hear another chopper out there. Could be the news folk, of course.

I wonder why they are back out there if there were no new tips.

Also bear in mind they are always running over to the coast, which is roughly the same flight pattern for me.

I always tune that map in now when I hear sirens.

This could be because the water is so very low out there right now...what used to be small lakes now looks like mud flats...maybe they are just giving it one last massive look.

My prayers are flying out from the east coast to all of the searchers. Please bring Kyron home where he belongs today!! My thoughts are with Kyrons family in Oregon and his family here at WS. None of us can take much more
