All Sauvie Island Searches

  • #121
Just got back. Going to upload the VERY few pics I took.

To clarify I was NOT helping search =)

I just can hear scanner communications way way better being close to the searchers although they were scattered all over the island but the ones I saw were north of the school in all assorted places.
PDX's descriptions are awesome.!

There were a few still out there when we left, I'll turn on the scanner early in the am, I suspect they will be out there again.

(You cannot park w/o a parking permit) so pic are VERY limited, I asked the Columbia County SO if it was okay to take pictures and he said of course and he would not cite me for "parking" if I was just taking a picture! =)

Look for 11pm news/interviews with locals on Sauvie's, I know fox12 was going to try and get some for the 10pm or 11pm news tonite.

Yeah I am thinking that North Portland call was probably not related, but the timing/placement was interesting. IMHO it could be interesting as you suggested because it's on the opposite shore but also, otoh, it could be interesting because there's a ship terminal and railway tracks and a big abandoned warehouse there. And, just to totally go off the deep end with speculating, I wonder if someone could take a boat from Sauvie Island over there or vice versa? Like a small, personal boat. Just thinking out loud, don't make much of it please!

Honestly Free and all (Kimster included) we all know how much time and emotion you have put into finding Kyron. I know there are a few other locals that are doing so much as well. Your updates and just knowing that you are there for Kyron means alot. It for me helps me feel closer and I appreciate the updates. I check every day as so many others do in hopes of some kind of news.

"Recently-developed information led investigators to conclude there were areas of Sauvie Island that needed to be examined--and in some cases, reexamined--in greater detail.

Lindstrand did not say exactly what evidence the crews were looking for. But she said they were not following up on any one new tip." "We're being thorough, is what we're doing," she said.

All day, 160 search and rescue personnel from multiple jurisdictions combed farms and forest in the rural area. On A-T-V's, on horseback and with K-9 crews, the mostly-volunteer team said they would not give up until this case is resolved.

Did this quick, again not a whole lot of pics.
We were not allowed near SAR Base, so next to it was best I could get..

please note..there were approx 160 searchers out today, these are ONLY the ones I got pictures of.. we saw many but could not stop nor did I want to impede their search efforts.. again these are NOT focused search areas.. just pictures to give you an idea of what it was like out there.. =)

What could the recently developed information be?

IMO She was being straight up.. they were scattered all over and in places I know have been frequented by SI visitors since 6/4.. it was a bit random and odd.

Suzanne, I meant north of the Sauvie Island School is where I saw the search teams (in the afternoon, who knows where they were in the early am)

Cyclemamma, I didn't see them where you mentioned, I'm assuming perhaps earlier, and again, I only saw "what I saw" =)

We made the comment while out there it looked like (as I have thought IMO during each search I've heard on the scanner or gone out and seen) that they are open to all possibilities and leaving no stone unturned.

I did see 2 K9 units (could have been more PLEASE understand I'm only reporting what I actually saw)

I'm just glad they are searching, and hey, it's not far to drive there and it was a beautiful weather, although I did see some families at the pumpkin farms and had to wonder what on earth the parents told their kids if they noticed or asked what was going on with all the searchers....

I just want Kyron found..

Free, do you know if they went back to that one abandoned house near where you took the pic of the searcher in the high brush a couple of months ago? You took me to that one house at the end of that road. Just wondered. :)

(Not trying to sound evasive folks. I'm not sure where we were, honestly!)

I believe each County has their own type of vehicles.
I think that is just what Marion Counties is called..
I saw horse trailers, trailers loaded up w/ATV's, individual searchers, Mult Co searchers.. A LOT...

Yes that island is big and I imagine getting a bit off the road, it seems lonely to me also..

That was on Cornelius Pass Rd, I looked over to that area today while I was going over the hill to Sauvie's and saw no obvious search activity at all other than on Sauvie's..

And having the SAR Base at the Sauvie Island School tells me they don't need to worry about radio transmissions getting up over the hill to the location of Skyline School.. if that makes sense..
All just my assumptions..
