Britney Spears was rushed to the emergency room on Thursday night after a stand-off with police.
Cops were called to the trainwreck's house after she refused to hand over custody of her kids to Kevin Federline's bodyguard.
The showdown lasted almost FOUR hours and K-Fed showed up, as did his lawyer and a representative for Spears law firm, you know, the ones that want to quit.
Police have said that Spears was discovered to be under the influence of an unknown substance.
Thankfully the children are back with K-Fed now and Spears will be held for psychiatric evaluation at the hospital.
Hopefully the court will order Britney to undergo 30 days - or more - of mental evaluation.

How awful for the kids to be hearing and seeing hysterics, a mom under the influence, and to still be up at 11 at night with all the police and ambulance there. Wonder what set it all off.

The way this is going i think Federline will be able to ban her from seeing the children for quite some time. she shouldn't be near them until she's well.

Frances Ethel Gumm was certainly more talented than Spears, but she was a child star who also had a crazy lifestyle which affected her children. her *oldest daughter in particular, has never, IMO, got over the contact with her mother.

One thing Judy had going for her was the 'stuff' of her generation, the love of family, the hard times they all went thru, etc, which created a bond no matter how messed up she was on whatever. Brit's generation, well I really wonder about them in many ways. Very self concerned, helping someone? Might as well be going to a New York Philharmonic concert and going home thinking how wonderful the conductor was

this may all work in her favour when the courts decide to penalise her for failing to turn up for the deposition or turning up very late.

OK, maybe I missed the discussion of this, but didn't she shave her head less than a year ago? In the article Floh posted, the pictures show her with fairly long hair. Is it possible it grew back that fast, or are we just seeing her with wigs/extensions all the time? I thought I read somewhere that hair generally grows about 1/2"/month, so she should still have a pretty short 'do.

She looks from those ambulance pics like she was naked on top of everything else. At least from the waist up, unless the paramedics undressed her for some reason.

No doubt Kevin will have full custody after this and she will only have supervised visitation for short periods. I hope someone who cares about her will commit her now that she is in the hospital.

WOW. We knew a total meltdown was coming. I don't see her getting even supervised visitation for a long time. Can you imagine your kids going through something like this and she is still smiling and mugging it up for the cameras? Unreal.

TMZ has confirmed that LAPD has been called to Britney Spears' house in Beverly Hills for what we're being told is a "family custody dispute."

LAPD tells us the call came in around 8:00 PM PT this evening, but they would not tell us who made the call or what the specific problem was. Officers, we're told, are still on scene.

Spears, who was nearly two hours late for today's scheduled deposition in her custody case, was reportedly scheduled to have her sons tonight until 7:00 PM.

UPDATE: Us is reporting K-Fed's bodyguards went to pick up Sean and Jayden at Britney's home this evening after her scheduled visitation, but Spears refused to turn the kids over. Police were then called. Britney's soon-to-be ex- attorney Sorrell Trope told the mag, "In a normal case when someone shows up with a certified court order saying the kids need to be somewhere else, the police see to it that the order is obeyed. But that is in a normal case."



This is so sad....It's got to be awful to be in those shoes she's in right now. To go from being on top of the world, to being criticized for everything you do. Yes, some is warranted, but we all do "bad" things, we're just not doing em in front of 15million photographers.

If she's skinny, she's anorexic, if she doesn't lose the baby weight she's a whale. When she married Kfed, she was stupid, he was a gold digger etc, now that she divorced him she's stupid, he's a good father, while she;s a bad mother. It's just got to be exhausting with all the negativity that surrounds her. I'm sure that there are the days she tips off the photographers, but in a way I can see that too, they seem to be the only ones that will pay any type of "good" attention to her. Everywhere else seems to shred her to pieces.
She had babies back to back, a pretty shotgun wedding if you will and did it all in front of the media eyes. I know on the other thread we talked about "younger" people getting pregnant on purpose? I think brit was one of those albeit a bit older. I really wish she had someone that she could trust that wouldn't try to exploit her that could "put her in hiding" for 6 months or so. Not rehab or anything to where she's lockdowned. But just out of the line of everyone's vision so she can heal a bit.

Her record flopped, her big comeback flop, she got a divorce, lost custody of her kiddos, has anyone and everyone up and quit on her...Sheesh, I can almost understand why she's turned to the vices she has..Helps to dull reality. And while she may have moola, I wouldn't want to pay that price for it ; ;

I don't think its sad at all--actually I find it hilarious, I feel zero sympathy for these spoiled rich brats such as Britney--and Britney's life continues to get funnier and more pathetic with each passing day--ya gotta luv it, it is priceless to watch the rich and famous implode and screw up their own lives
