All Things Dick Cheney

"Calus, you know, it's just not every day that a Vice President shoots someone"......I KNOW and I think that really should change. Perhaps during the next State of the Union speech, Cheney could bring a sniper rife and take out some Dems. I know, try to hit Hillary while she has that scrunched up, just smelled a rotten egg poot face so it stays that way! :D JUST KIDDING don't anyone go calling the Secret Service or anything. Of couse, as much as Hillary and other Democrats have treated their secret service agents like crap they might just volunteer some primo military stuff for Cheney to use! :D It's okay to laugh, Dems, that's good stuff! ;)

Cal

Not to cut off the important part of the post but that is funny stuff above and I am a Dem and I am laughing.

Apparently I care. And that is why I am posting with others that also care. Your constant whining about "who cares" is like telling me I shouldn't be posting.
Hello! I am on the right thread. I am posting about the topic. And I was enjoying reading everyones take on it.
Becba, this is why we post on a forum called Websleuths, versus being being just some people in an office, who could care less. Like you, I think it is important as to how many pellets struck Whittington, because with that number, range can be approximated.

Well, I haven't read the report on Smoking Gun yet so I do not know if LE actually walked to the site of the accident to see the lay of the land. I feel that height and angle would be important too just as it is in all shootings.
When it is an accident involving the VP it would be best to fully investigate so it can pass with a clean bill of health.

I would also like the pellets in his body measured to see if they are consistant with the gun and number 7 1/2 load.
Of course that will happen when I can afford to buy a gun like Cheney's which at present is more valuable than my car 5 times over.:p actually I could have a better car but mine runs great and is still in good condition so why spend.

The gun costs more than your car? This is appalling. Sorry, but this isn't right.

$23,000 for Cheney's Perazzi shotgun--probably one of many shotguns he owns. Typically he would use a different gun for almost every type of bird he hunts. The others may even be more expensive.

Thanks for posting that.

:D I can't help but snicker when reading about "Captain Kirk." :D Me bad. :slap:
Ok Just got to the Captain Kirk part, then couldn't read anymore cause each time I read the name I started snickering!
I did see the officer did go to the site. Took a GPS reading for the site also.
He did not get to talk to Armstrong until the 15th which is strange.
The gun and pellet size are based on what he was told.
And the SS searched HIS car. lol Can't be too safe, that cop may be a terrorist.
J/K I know they have to keep the VP safe.

WASHINGTON - Damage-control experts in both political parties agree: The handling of Vice President Dick Cheney's hunting mishap has been a disaster, a case study in how not to handle bad news.

At best, it has fed criticism of Cheney as aloof and isolated. At worst, critics suggest, it has shown a president unable to control his own vice president.
-----------------------------------------------
Under pressure from the White House and outside Republican strategists, Cheney took responsibility in a Fox News Channel interview for the accidental shooting of a 78-year-old quail hunting companion in Texas on Saturday. The interview, broadcast Wednesday evening, followed three days of public silence on Cheney's part.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Davis, who has advised both Democrats and Republicans since serving as Clinton's special counsel, said the political problems for the Bush White House "are not going to go away by Cheney just being interviewed by Brit Hume."

"This is not about the hunting incident, it's not about a day's delay in getting out news of the shooting, it's about Dick Cheney," Davis said. "It's dangerous to our system of government when you have a vice president with so much power and so little accountability."

As to Bush's apparent willingness to let Cheney deal with the shooting problem himself, "There has never in American history been a White House where the president said to the vice president, `You handle the press,'" Davis said.

Loved this quote reader...As to Bush's apparent willingness to let Cheney deal with the shooting problem himself, "There has never in American history been a White House where the president said to the vice president, `You handle the press,'" Davis said.

We know who is really in charge.

scarey thought - isnt it? not sure which of the 2 is worse.........

I have had a couple of crazy days and been unable to keep up on this thead or to post, but I just wanted to say that I am happy that Cheney finally got around to making a public statement and I appreciate that he feels terrible about shooting his friend. That being said, I believe it is unforgivable for the Vice President to have handled things this way and that the general response by the press and the public is in direct relationship to CHENEY's ongoing snubbing of the American people. He has earned this reputation that only works against him when something like this happens. He needs to be reminded that HE works for US!!

Thanks, Becba and j2mirish, I thought it was a good article also, especially since it came from both parties.

This whole situation reminds me of several things that Paul O'Neill said about Cheney in his book, The Price of Loyalty. He'd known and worked with him off and on since the 70's.

"Dick had always been an adherent of secrecy."

and

"---he (Cheney) had often groused about prying questions and transparency and how information released under the claim of right-to-know became ammunition for a host of political enemies."

Thanks Christine! Reading the whole story clears up a lot for me.

I am so enjoying all this thread though. Kind of like watching a pack of rabid dogs on Animal Planet. Tough to see but hard to turn the channel.
and there would be NO difference if it was a democratic vp that shot someone under the same circumstances---
this isnt about the party--- its about the man................
