Personally I find it unbelievable that the forensic accountant needs all this extra time. Surely this case would have been given top priority and she had other staff working with her to assist with enquiries re finances...

Yes perhaps they want to keep digging deeper & deeper into the finance side of it all....who knows what may turn up!!!

These were my guesses too as soon as I heard there were no obvious injuries. Something to knock out A, and perhaps even the kids so they wouldn't wake up during the night.

Baden-Clay audit could take months

The lengthy process of auditing the financial records of accused wife killer Gerard Baden-Clay could delay his committal hearing by months, a court has heard.

During a brief mention of the matter in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday, magistrate Chris Callaghan said he was "flabbergasted" at the crown's suggestion the process would not be completed until mid-November.

"You're joking, aren't you?" he said.

"I can't believe for a minute that it's going to take (almost) five months for an accountant to have a look at the financial affairs of one defendant."

I am sure there is a case of competing priorities with the amount of fraud going on in Qld. Maybe this was one way of getting the priority upped by having a judge being unhappy!? JIMO

He went to the chemist on the Thursday morning after to his supposed attendance at the Kenmore Chamber of Commerce meeting at 7 am of which he was president. See links in media thread.

I was originally of the opinion that his finances were as messy as they could possibly get after searching ASIC. now, I think that may have been an underestimation!!!!

I have always thought the chemist visit was interesting? I wonder what he bought?

I have said it from day one that there was something shady going on financially. I am in the industry and I heard rumours from my own peers from day one.

I dont know if there is a financial team at the QPS disposal, probably more like an accountant and possible assistant who are on 40 hour weeks and working on other cases too.

A MAGISTRATE said he was "flabbergasted" that police would need four to five months to scour Gerard Baden-Clay's finances - a process set to delay court proceedings.
Prosecutor Danny Boyle told Magistrate Chris Callaghan they would be unable to give Baden-Clay's defence team the full brief of evidence because an investigative accountant would need until mid November to analyse bank accounts and insurance policies.

Baden-Clay, 41, who did not appear today, is charged with murdering his wife Allison on April 19 and dumping her body on the banks of a creek.

An earlier court hearing was told Baden-Clay is $1 million in debt and stood to gain about that from his wife's life insurance and superannuation policies.

Mr Boyle said police were also waiting on computer and phone examinations, as well as post mortem results.

"The post mortem tests are outstanding ... the forensics pathologist was away last week and this week until Wednesday," he said.

Bu surely the judge must realise the task that the prosecution has is huge? Hopefully GBC's lawyers don't walk away feeling smug. Maybe the judge should have said to the lawyers "Why can't your client be more responsible in his financial dealings, and make it easier on the prosecution???

I think they will walk away feeling very worried lol.

Just froM what I have been ale to see from ASIC etc I think that is fair enough, it is an intricate mess. I am sure the QPS are doing it as fast as they can given their resources and constraints.

Although frustrating for the Magistrate, sufficient time is needed to sort through the wicked web and gain solid evidence. We are talking about QPolice Forensic Accountants. We need to support the QPolice investigation. We want justice for Allison Baden-Clay. The Sica case took an incredibly long time to investigate before the Court process which was repeatedly held up over all sorts of obstacles, but eventually resulted in a successful prosecution.
"Oh what a wicked web we weave, we first we practice to deceive". Cases like this are complex and need sufficient time to do the job properly in the interest of Justice. My opinion, not fact.

Particularly if the appeal falls on deaf ears, and in reality there is no new evidence just more incriminating stuff.
