This has been a complete anticlimax today but we do know how extensively GBC has been investigated- There is only so many man hours in one day - so if people can't get their work done then lets not crucify them. Its hardly a system fault or a personal fault. What if that investigators wife died? Lets get some perspective! Danny Boyle has said the information is VOLUMINOUS. Miracle then that so much was able to be presented today. Mahony seemed quite happy from all reports.

I don't think we really need to split loyalties - justice for Allison - in reality all we say is going to have ZERO effect on anything that happens in the court room or in the families lives. So instead of taking sides and getting narky about who is supporting who and who knows most about what - lets settle down and re-evaluate why this case has been emotional. Yes we all want the best outcome for Allison BUT we figure at level zero in that scheme. So lets just realise that we have common interest - different opinions and totally diverse backgrounds this alone is indeed capable of stimulating and constructing interesting educated discussion.

Twitter:

... Ths is just IMO ... this one is a hard one with possibly others involved in a cover-up.

Agree. IMO this does seem to be the situation. Let's support the work of the Police and The Courts which make up our Legal system. They have a responsible job to do and it is best done thoroughly in seeking Justice.

thats interesting news, i wonder if he is making friends and has a cell mate, isnt there a code in prison where women and child killers and rapists are treated with contempt and shunned or worse, by other inmates?
he seems quite effeminate so can imagine his time there will be hell and he will be bullied and broken. i wonder how long before hes back in solitary or the medical wing.
i agree, prison isnt a good place for children to visit and as a parent you wouldnt think you would want your children to see you there either.

Child rapists, yes, but wife killers or other crimes against women, not so much. If that was the case, there would be too many people to shun! I have some experience in this, having known someone who was in jail for a period of time, (young kid for stealing offences) and it is amazing how every prisoner either denies their crime, justifies their crime, or blames others, and because everyone is doing it about their own crimes, everyone else goes along with it.

Visiting by kids is allowed in Arthur Gorrie, I think in this case it is about the extreme circumstances the girls have been through and the reason their father is in jail. I won't elaborate further, I'm not an expert and just want to keep any comments relating to the girls to a mimimum.

ok, i thought any crimes against women, but you are right, too many prisoners to avoid! very awkward!! so i guess there are probably tales of extreme provocation being spun to a captive audience!
i agree about the children and i know what you are saying. they need to be left alone to start afresh and heal in peace.

I'm so happy to wait for all the tests to come through for a decisive outcome. If every 't' must be crossed & 'i' dotted well good on our boyz in blue! While we were waiting for the news I felt everyones hands being held. I've grown to love you all! Thanx xx

Regarding why the two key investigators had not yet submitted their statements, it could be that theirs are quite significant, lengthy and take a lot of time to prepare (no doubt while still working on the case and taking statements??). They most likely would be very critical too so no doubt they are being checked and rechecked. They could also be waiting on the other missing statements as these would be of major importance to the case.

Just moo. Frustrating though it is, I'd much prefer a water tight case than rushing things through and leaving holes in the case.

Does anyone know if SC Davis is still on this case? Or does he only act in committal/trial?

I'm removing the off topic posts.

Adding to the "not for discussion list"... there will be no further bashing of lawyers/court system at all.

You will be put on time-out if you do.

:bump:

I'm gonna close the thread for a few minutes to make sure that everyone reads this warning.

Well said and I totally agree. IMO the two key investigators would not 'sign off' on their statements until all outstanding evidence is in.

testing testing 123

Thinking of something constructive to occupy our minds till the next court date so we can all COOPERATE again. I just thought we could name the 446 people that game statements but then I realised nope not in MSM.

It seems that GBC has closed down his facebook. It may just be me but I can't find it anymore.

AAAA, it was there yesterday, but unless you are a friend, you can't see much except who his friends are/were.

IMO there are a few interesting snippets from today's CM article. Firstly 446 statements, that is a lot of people! :what: Alioop, will all of these people who gave statements be expected to take the stand in the event of a trial?

POLICE have provided 446 statements to the defence team of accused wife killer Gerard Baden-Clay.

He said a forensic pathologist received results from Western Australia last week, with his statement due by the end of this week.

Another thing I found interesting is the mention of forensics coming back from Western Australia. I recall we heard about something being sent to W.A for testing and we were deliberating on just what would need to be sent to W.A. Was it something to do with vegetation? A female forensic scientist who specialised in a specific area? Gawd, I think I'm suffering from CRAFT! :waitasec:

A total of 32 exhibits have been examined in relation to phone and computer records, with their report also due by the middle of this month.

32 exhibits in relation to phone and computer records! :what: I'm hoping and praying that the actual facetime call is included in these exhibits. It's interesting to speculate on just what those phone and computer records hold. IMO it would make fascinating reading. Were there phone calls from Nigelaine to TM on GBC's behalf? Was Bruce getting down and dirty in emails to TM? Perhaps GBC searched for maps of the Kholo Creek area, although IMO he knew the area like the back of his hand.

It's my understanding that GBC would have read the evidence his defence team have received from the prosecution thus far. I'm betting that his accomplice wishes they could also read this evidence. :jail: Are there going to be more children left with only one parent when this is all done and dusted?

Nope, still can't find it. I used to just type in his name at the top of my page and two accounts would come up. Now zero results.

Ha ha Makara, love the CRAFT idea; looked it up and it describes my typical state of mind so I'll be using the expression all the time from now on (if I remember).

There was some mention of forensic help from W.A. in Thread 24, just after GBC’s arrest. LostSock reminded us that there is an expert on pollens who works in W.A. and plentyofnous posted this link http://www.abc.net.au/austory/content/2005/s1444413.htm to an Australian Story program about her forensic work.

I embarked upon the Queensland Courts early this morning.

My notes:
3/9/12 Brisbane Magistrates Court, Magistrate Chris Callaghan presiding for the Further Committal Mention
Public Prosecutor: Danny Boyle
Defense Lawyer: Darren Mahony

In a nutshell, the prosecution is experiencing delays and the Committal Hearing date has been set for 24/9/12. GBC to remain in custody and to appear on that date. Mahony consented to this as he stated this was better than the original suggestion of November 2012.

Progress & Delays:
Prosecution was presented with a bulk brief last Friday from QPS
5 signed statements are outstanding including 2 from investigating officers, Roddick and Pascoe.
The delays were caused due to additional data being received.
The 5 statements are expected by the end of the week.
Financial forensics are expected by 14/9/12 from the accountant rather than by November as previously stated.
Dr Milne, the forensic pathologist in WA is expected to hand over findings by 14/9/12.
Further analysis of phones and computers has been conducted. There are 32 exhibits resulting from this analysis. Data from this is also expected 14/9/12.

Magistrate Callaghan expressed his concern over the delays.
Danny Boyle said that delays were due to "Warrants being required, etc." and that it took a lot of work to get financial records in.

Great job, thanks. Hopefully you can make it back on the 24th : )

Thank you Woodstock. That's the one I was thinking of. Dr. Lynne Milne is a Forensic Palynologist, which, broadly speaking is the study of pollens. Dr. Milne may not be involved in this case at all, but her work and assistance to police in the past is fascinating. The quote from the link below is also very interesting in regard to taking tape lifts from the air cleaner and wheel arches of the car involved.

Allison was obviously transported to Kholo Creek in a vehicle and in all likelihood that vehicle would have picked up soil, pollens and vegetation from the area. These may have also been transferred back to the house on GBC's shoes or clothing, all unbeknownst to him. If these were found in the Captiva or the house, it would be a very strong argument for GBC having been at Kholo Creek.

http://www.abc.net.au/catalyst/stories/3510314.htm

There was one case in 1999 in Perth that I worked on, and a young woman went missing. And the police had a car that they thought may have been involved in her disappearance. And so they found her handbag with her belongings scattered in the banksia woodland just on the outskirts of the city.

And so from the car, they took the air cleaner, and they took tape lifts from under the wheel arches of this car. So then I took control samples from the site where the bag was found, and then was able to match up the soil from there, the pollen assemblage in the soil with some of the stuff that I found in the air cleaner.

Well it told me that the car had been driving over dirt that was in a banksia woodland. The other thing that was strange, particularly on the tape lifts from the wheel arch, there was lots of pine pollen. And so I said to the police, 'I think it's a bit strange, all this pine pollen, because I wouldn't expect that much there.' And two years later, a young woman's body was actually found in bushland opposite a pine forest.
