In what regard? As long as justice is served it's all good right?

IMO, It will be disappointing and frustrating if important information is withheld from the public.
If the judge deems it necessary, then so be it, as justice for Allison is the goal.

In the meantime, the more we know, the more we can contribute to this forum.

With just a few weeks to go, and we're all sitting here just waiting, I'm wondering what's actually going on behind the scenes with preparations for GBC's Big Moment. Are legal visits making the jailhouse rock with frenetic flurries of activity... or is it 'business as usual' for GBC in his macrame handiwork class, with the defence team working feverishly offsite to find the best possible 'spin' and only occasionally briefing of their esteemed client? Would they bring in body language experts to coach GBC, considering his woeful television debut? I'd love to know how things are ramping up over there. Alioop, any insights into what would usually be happening by now in the lead up to court? And we've heard zilch lately about TM, NBC and EBC. IMO

No more premiums would be payable on Allisons policies as she is deceased so they are payable and have now been paid out by way of payment into the court. One of the polices was overdue when she died but the policy was still valid. I think insurance companies have a grace period of at least one month before the policy lapses.

Unless someone is paying the premiums on GBCS own policies , they will lapse when they become due for renewal. Hopefully someone is paying them. At the time of Allisons death he had income protection and a few life insurance polices as well as business insurance. So if he died Allison would have got about $2 million. He was twice as much insured as Allison. Their insurances were not unusual for a couple who owned their own business and had young children.

Thanks for bumping that one again - got me thinking...
I betcha GBC had a go and made a claim against the 'income protection' policy while in Arthur Gorrie.
"I mean y'honour, like, I can't sell real estate from in here can I? I reckon the insurance claim should be honoured."
His honour replies, "Well gerbil, you did manage to sell a certain property in Paradise Point."
Verdict - no claim...

Yes, I've been wondering whether Nigelaine will make their debut in court this time, and why they have never been before for a GBC hearing.

I think he would be instructing lawyers from remand who are then dealing with TAL and their lawyers...The court could direct it be paid to the estate on the 6th Feb or just order it be held by the court until the criminal charges are finalised like the suncorp insurance. Mr Dickie will likely be arguing through his lawyer that it be paid into the estate. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Case Update: The Court could make a determination on Baden-Clay insurance policy payout tomorrow in the Federal Court being February 6th, 2013.

If GBC had income protection on his insurances would that be paying his premiums, income & overheads? Well, he IS innocent until proven guilty.

So true tick took tick tick c'mon March!
Ahhgh the suspense is bloody killing me!!

TGY, I think that income protection is limited to being unable to work because of ill health of the policy holder. I think and hope that GBC is in fine health.

I think that the defence team would be busy working on questions to ask of each of the 43 prosecution witness ( though they may not end up cross examining them all) . There would be some visits to GBC but mostly the preparation would be done by the lawyers. I don't think GBC would be coached by professionals. His lawyers I think may make suggestions to him about his behaviour in court. We won't hear anything likely from him. He will just be sitting in the dock watching the committal.

Will be very interesting to see which family members of his are there. I think a representative of the Dickies may go too but maybe not Geoff and Priscilla. My guess is more likely Allisons brother and sister.

Remind me Alioop, does he enter a plea at the committal?

No plea is required until and unless GBC is committed for trial. So at the end of the committal hearing, if the magistrates decides there is sufficient evidence to commit him to trial then the magistrate will ask GBC if he pleads guilty or not guilty. If the plea is guilty then a date will be set in the Supreme Court for sentencing. If the plea is not guilty, then it will be sent to the Supreme Court for the pre trial procedure and ultimate trial.

A not guilty plea can be changed to a guilty plea at any time prior to sentencing.

I don't believe GBC has entered any plea yet.

Is it ok to ask what your connection is redlight? Are you a Brookfield local? Do I remember something about you being a parent from the primary school?

Hi Obsessor. I don't live in Brookfield anymore. I do still live in the local area though. I have known ABC and GBC for many years. :)

Oh wow, thanks for that.
You must be so shaken by what has happened.
I find it hard to comprehend and deal with, and thats without knowing anyone.
It was just so shocking, and so devastating for the three little girls.
This case has touched a lot of people.

Thankyou for verifying. :)

Thanks Alioop. So it is at the end of the committal that he will be required to enter a plea if magistrate decides on trial.

When I was a juror on a murder trial years ago, the person pleaded not guilty. Until the summing up stage when he said that he did kill, but not intentionally. It was his desperate attempt to have us believe that he didn't mean to kill. Didn't wash with us.

The judge will either order the money be paid into the court to be held pending the outcome of the criminal charges or it will be ordered to be paid to the estate. My preference is that it is ordered to be paid to the estate. It will be interesting if the judge follows the decision about the Suncorp money or not.
