I think it's sad that some educated people can't understand the poetic language of a creative person or the romantic notions of a newly-blooming love.

:blowkiss: in my humble defense of myself, I am a published poet and possibly I am a creative person, I dont personally not "understand" echols' writing but it just isnt my thing.

:truce:

I read the book and I have to say I enjoyed it. I love Damien's writing style-he has a way of describing things that makes it so easy to picture exactly what he must have been seeing as he wrote. He also has quite a sense of humor which surprised me given his situation. A good read-I recommend it.

From watching interviews to me Damien seem SO cocky. I'm not sure if I'd want to read his book, or actually pay for it. One day I might but not at the moment.

I want to include that just because I find Damien cocky and whatnot, it doesn't change my mind about their innocence...

i'm not interested in reading it - was written so many years ago - i just can't see how it would add to my understanding of the case.

Haven't read Damien's book mainly because I had hoped they would get out, which they did and then he could write a more up to date type book.

And he is! He has a contract with Penguin for his second book. All I know is that he's writing it now.

Thanks for the update. I look forward to his book.

Amazon.com: Almost Home: My Life Story Vol 1 (9780595357017): Damien Echols: Books

you can read the first couple of chapters here.I think I will get the book.
He is talented and the beginning is sentimental,tender....I can relate to it a lot.
There is already resentment about his mother though so if you read the whole book it probably becomes clearer why he is not close to her now.

Thank you for the link. I'm interested in reading it and perhaps the whole book.
