respectfully snipped I find it carries more US stories than most of the others I read online (certainly more 'human' and less 'political' stories), which is why I often link to it.

It seemed to be way ahead of all the US media sources in its coverage of the Boston Bombings, esp with photos IIRC...

I'm an Aussie and don't know the time difference... What time is it there now and what time is the press conference?

I feel so much for Michele, she must feel as though her family never cared given the lack of media reporting. If Amanda was aware of her case being on the news it's because Castro allowed her to be. I'm sure Michele knew that there wasn't a big search for her :( that makes me so sad...

It's 2:22AM in Ohio. Not sure what time the press conference is.

Yeah I was thinking about that too. The uncle seems distraught, the neighbors are in shock. And the son wrote that article about the missing. All seem in shock.

But I don't quite get that. These girls were chained up in the basement. and there were a couple of children too. So how did these brothers hide it from their kids and other relatives? Didn't they ever visit the house?

does the facebook page still come up for you? for me says not found.

It's still there and he's still losing friends.

Jmo April is not a good month in that family. He kidnapped AB and GD in April. His daughter attempted to kill her baby and herself in April and his ex wife died last April.

In some of the other cases we have seen there was soundproofing in the rooms where the women were kept. That could be possible. They could have been kept restrained and gagged unless one of the men were in attendance, until they had been sufficiently cowed that they could be trusted. Most visitors wouldn't tour the house, maybe be in living room, kitchen or bathroom.

I am curious as to when he separated from his wife.

And the neighbors reported that his daughter visited regularly (and brought his grandchildren.) Though now that I think of it, I wonder if there is any possibility that the daughter and the grandchildren neighbors report seeing could have been one of the girls?

Thanks. So you're 14 hrs behind us. It's 4.30pm Tuesday Arvo here. So I'll not hear about the press conference till I wake up tomoz most likely.

I'd wondered why it got so quiet, I didn't think about it being the middle of the night for you all!

Duct Tape over their mouths? Plus pure fear of what would happen if they cried out?

The Uncle said on Anderson Cooper that he hadn't seen his nephew much lately and he never went to his house.

The house looks small and narrow from the front, but it's actually quite large when seen from the side. Appears to have an attic, and now there's mention in the news of a basement. Lots of places to hide people.

I'm still speechless. I remember when Amanda & Gina went missing and I never dreamed they would be found alive after all this time. How bittersweet it must be for Amanda to be freed right before Mother's Day only to learn her mother has passed. Gina's family must be devastated to discover that this monster wasn't a stranger to many of them.

Speaking of monsters, this man doesn't look like one. His home doesn't look like a dungeon. His Facebook portrays him as a proud father & grandfather. Evil should not be able to blend in with the rest of us so seamlessly. This is the sort of thing that terrifies me as a parent. Three siblings, at least one presenting a kind face to the world, were able to carry out the most evil of deeds for over a decade in what appears to be a decent neighborhood without raising suspicions. How do you guard against something like that? How do we combat that which looks so normal?

no snark but what's your problem with the Mail? It's most definitely not my favourite paper but as a UK based person I find it carries more US stories than most of the others I read online (certainly more 'human' and less 'political' stories), which is why I often link to it.

I love the Mail. I'm often left wondering why a UK paper is better at reporting US news. ITA, less political and more human interest. IMO, Fox and CNN could learn a thing or two from the Mail. I am so sick of the rhetoric from US media.

I'm sitting here "blown away"

I'm absolutely thrilled because this rarely happens. And wished it happened more. But reality is it does not.

My god, I'm laughing and crying at the same time.

So fantastic!

Thanks. So the neighbor who Anderson Cooper did a phone interview with said her aunt is the one who let them use her phone to call 911 and her aunt said there was a 3 year old or so aged child with them and then a 9 year old or so aged child came out of the house later. And Amanda's cousin outside of the hospital said something about an infant. Did they confirm two children being found?

No, they didn't confirm two children being found. In fact there are only four people in the hospital, as was confirmed by the doctor.
So only one child appears to have been found.
