Ariel looks like Kim Jong-Il to me.

I agree. How to say this? LE has to get nosier and hire a special task force or something consisting of people (women officers) who possess a sixth sense. It difficult to understand why the people who were up front and center in the beginning weren't looked into more closely.

Two young men called in a partial license plate (wait, I think it was a complete license plate number - I'm mixing up cases) after seeing what looked like a girl being taken off the street. And that tip was buried, lost or thought unimportant. That's bad and no one will step up to admit they screwed up.
How can a civilian be certain, when they call in a tip, its taken seriously? We trust the system but can we?

If someone doesn't answer the doorbell, keep going back until they do.

Another recent case, Jessice Heeringa from MI who was abducted two weeks ago, there are several witnesses involved. I hope LE isn't ignoring the possible connections of their potential involvements (or those close to them). Sometimes they have to dig deeper. LE is convinced too easily that someone isn't involved imo. A crime is often connected to the person/s who last saw the victim. Not always but often. Why place those circumstances on the back burner so soon?

I'd be asking a million questions and they should have follow up detectives or something to keep an eye on certain people for awhile.

This is from Gina's original thread post #5, Aug 2003. Looks like LE didn't totally ignore that tip.

Police want to talk with a man seen driving along Lorain Avenue in the area where 14-year-old Georgina DeJesus disappeared last week.

The man is described as Hispanic, driving a light-colored, older-model compact car with a license plate that includes the letters SMS. Georgina, known as Gina, disappeared a week ago near West 105th Street and Lorain Avenue as she walked home from school.

The family of a missing 14-year-old girl released new photos of her Thursday in hopes that someone might be able to recognize her, reported NewsChannel5.

(Note: none of these old links from that post seem to work)

Would be interesting to know if AC's tag at that time contained the letter"SMS"

Is there anything more comforting than Mom's meatloaf?

After a decade-long nightmare as a prisoner inside the home of alleged kidnapper Ariel Castro, Gina DeJesus, 23, is now focusing on the simple things and the healing comforts of home.

"Gina wants to go back to school, get her driver's license and get a haircut," says Matt Zone, a Cleveland city councilman, who has spent time with the DeJesus family in the days since Gina came home. "She wants to learn to put on makeup, all those girly things. It's the simple things – those are the things that are the most precious to her."

The point is that the sketch is so vague that it resembles thousands of hispanic males in Cleveland. I think very few people actually take these type of sketches seriously.

But only one of these men is the father of a girl who is the last person to see Gina.

The two brothers that we have seen interviewed recently gave a different license plate and described a different car.

I am not sure that license plate makes any sense. It's a custom plate, but it doesn't correspond to either the first or last name of Castro's.

"They called police to report a man in in a grey SUV with licence plate 'ELLIOTC' talking to the girl.

Moments before, they claim, the man had cut them off in traffic, doing a U-turn to approach the girl.

"I don't believe [police] listened to me at all or checked it all," said one of the brothers.""

last night I asked if someone could point me to the articles about Arlene, Gina and Castro being together before the kidnapping. I got an answer saying "several articles". I kind of figured that, but I'm not having any luck googling the specific information.

If anyone has a link saved, could you share it please?

Here. Per what Gina said to police, before Arlene and Gina separated, they talked to Ariel Castro. He then returned and offerend Gina a ride.

"After Gina DeJesus disappeared, Arlene Castro told investigators that she and her friend went their separate ways when their sleepover was nixed. But according to a Cleveland police report issued Wednesday, Gina DeJesus has added a new detail. She says that before they separated, they also talked to Ariel Castro. After the girls split up, DeJesus now says, Ariel Castro returned and offered her a ride, which she accepted."

Sorry, I thought it posted. I don't know why it didn't. Let me try again:

I don't think that's him. The guy in the video has a mole by his nose and I don't see that in any of the old or new pictures of AC. I'm not real good at facial recognition though. Both those videos break my heart, especially for Amanda's mom who died from a broken heart. He even called her on Amandas cell phone and LE apparently couldn't trace it. Her pleas for help from the community and law enforcement to help show that she didn't get much support and she was even told that they doubted Amanda was anywhere near Cleveland.

I'll have to go back a read through the old threads.

It seems like that the friend borrowing money from Gina should have been a huge red flag.(has this story changed?). I mean think about it and connect the dots-friend borrows phone money to make phone call.... friend is denied permission to visit Gina...Gina is now left without bus fare...Gina is forced to walk home. Coincidence that Castro, the kidnapper, just happened on Gina? I don't thinks so, but even if it was a coincidence, investigators should have made the connection of WHY Gina was forced to walk on the day she was kidnapped. If she normally rode the bus, it rules out someone who had watched and learned her daily pattern. Just curious, after the 2 girls parted ways, did they go in different directions? Did they both have to walk?

I am curious if AC knew Her mother's boyfriend DF. It is just very strange she was kidnapped 3 days before she was due to testify against him for rape. The other 2 girls were friends of the two daughters.

Colon said he told the agents that Castro also might have been acquainted with two of the missing girls -- in addition to Arlene’s close friendship with DeJesus, his older daughter, Emily, was friends with Amanda Berry, who had disappeared nearly a year earlier.

(also from the article, post 1087)

OMG, are you kidding me??
If Colon did give this info to LE, I have no words for this "Huge Miss"!
How could AC never have been questioned??

Did you all watch the complete interview of the Castro brothers CNN interview (in 3 parts on youtube)? I felt their answers were heartfelt and truthful...and that they are victims just having AC as a family member! Would love to hear other opinions!

Yes, I thought they were sincere. Only time will time in they really are in their future actions regarding AC from here on out.
