It's never understandable for any person to be removed from the missing person list unless they are found, point blank period. From the looks of Michelle's family, they didn't have the resources to make noise. They were convinced by the police and social workers (which gives me clues that they were receiving assistance) that Michelle may have left on her own. I don't think they might have wondered where she was, but they weren't a close family in the first place so I'm sure some doubt was left.

OT: I think when people do not have a strong family unit, things like this slip through the cracks easier. The case that comes to mind is Joyce Vincent which was a tragedy in itself.

exactly my point. Michelle slipped through the cracks because she didn't have the family behind her.

Honestly how do we take anything her mother claims as fact- she says she knew her daughter didn't runaway but she didn't tell Michelle's brother she was missing?

But it was reasonable for LE to see her as someone who left on her own, she had family dysfunction, just lost her son and was an adult.

Should she have been removed from the list? In retrospect no- but looking at it from a logical and practical point of view I see why she was-

It is so easy to see what LE "should" have done and point to the mistakes they make-But I think if people had to make those judgment calls they'd have a different perspective-

I haven't seen a single report stating Arlene told police her father was there. She told them about her step-father-and step-father was questioned.
Castro was never even questioned as far as I can tell.

No I'm sure LE said AC was never interviewed- and like you I have never seen anything saying Arlene told anyone her father was there.

I'm not saying it was up to Gina's family to come up with a suspect-I am saying that if it wasn't obvious to them that AC was questionable I see why he wouldn't be top of the list with LE.
I also think if his name was brought up by someone other than the man he accused of abusing his daughters Police would have shown some interest.

There has been several versions of what happened to Gina that day-not all reports say Arlene told police her father was there.

Arlene didn't live with AC it is reasonable that those immediately close to her on a daily bases were interviewed while those who didn't see Arlene regularly were missed.

Hind sight clearly points to AC as a prime suspect but I'm not sure how clear that was back then.

I see your point, but I believe they dropped the ball. I'm sorry, but because I don't pick up the fact that my neighbor is an abductor and he abducts me and my family never picks up on it, I would still hope the police were savvy enough to pick up on it. It was not the job of the Dejesus family to sleuth the criminals, it was the job of CPD. We can agree to disagree, I'm moving on.

Do you believe the reports of Mr Poindexter and his brother who witnessed the abduction, reported her clothing, her description the location of the abduction (verified by Gina) reported the vehicle nake/model and description of the driver?
The officer never wrote a report.

Honestly? No I don't.

It is possible that they did see Gina that day I just don't believe they had all the details they suddenly have now.

I am having a hard time making sense of the timeline of Michele.

She is 32. She was abducted in 2002 at age 21 or 20. According to her aunt, she had been gang-raped at her JUNIOR HIGH and gave birth to a child ABOUT A YEAR before her abduction. So, she would have been 19 or 20 when she had the child. And that would make her 18 or 19 in junior high?

I feel like that doesn't make sense.....

It will be good for Gina too, her mom said she was scared and didnt want to stay in her room alone so the family set up inflatable mattresses to stay with her in the living room.

Maybe the two together will be able to help each other over night time fears etc.

I am also confused about her brother Freddie. He is said to be 32. And some articles have said he is MICHELE's twin, making her 32 as well. Yet other articles say he is A TWIN. They do not necessarily say he is HER twin. If they are not twins, then she could be younger than 32.

I can only think maybe Gina and Michelle were closer (if true maybe they were the 2 together) because they only had each other and Amanda had the baby.

Not sure about unemployment, but he did receive an inheritance, which is when he started offering his girls gifts and buying them cell phones, etc, as mentioned in an article quoted upthread.

He also is collecting unemployment compensation. This was revealed during his initial appearance in court.

It was reported Michelle and Gina were kept in one room, while Amanda in another. Makes sense that Michelle and Gina bonded with each other.

Good question. I know that when LE found her in the house they reported to dispatch she was 32- I imagine she told them her age.

It is so hard to keep track of fact vs fiction in these fast moving cases. So much information from so many sources- until it all settles into official reports who knows what to believe.

I wouldn't be surprised if her "mother" (and I use the term loosely) doesn't actually remember how old Michelle is.

I'm hoping its true that Michelle is staying with Gina's family. I've been especially worried about her, and hope that she might now finally have the help and support she's never previously known in her life.

After reading about how she saved Baby Joselyn's life (which apparently also saved Amanda's life), this woman is my heroine.

I agree, I think that's what mom is hanging on for. I hope that if Michelle does not have family in the area that one of the two families will allow her to stay with them temporarily until another plan can be drawn up.
