RE: the paparazzi style photos and the video footage.... Is that legal?

She's a SA victim. I realize she can't exactly be anonymous because of the way she publicly escaped and there was a hospital photo published (which I assume she okay'd) but can people stalk a SA victim, take photos and video of her, and sell them to a tabloid or upload them to YT? That all sounds criminal and if it isn't, imo, it should be.

RE: the paparazzi style photos and the video footage.... Is that legal?

Courts have ruled that there is no expectation of privacy in public spaces. So yeah, it's legal.

Judge orders Ariel Castro to undergo competency evaluation to determine if he is mentally competent to stand trial.

___

Recent jail logs show that Castro has been refusing to shower or change his prison-issued clothing. Dr. Phillip Resnick has been assigned the task of evaluating Castro's competency in a psychiatric evaluation set to take place today in a court clinic.

(6) A date we can certainly count on, however, is the THIRD PRE-TRIAL HEARING, NEXT WEDNESDAY, JULY 3 (@ 8:30 AM according to WOIO, @ 8:45 AM according to the Plain Dealer, and probably after 9 AM according to yours truly).

The judge also ruled at the hearing that there will be no blogging or other electronic media allowed from inside the courtroom. The next pre-trial hearing is scheduled for July 3.

just came on this thread to reference the same news. no 3-ways for castro! specifically, "records say castro can only write to his mother and sister and those are the only people he is permitted to call, too. jail rules now specially state he cannot have any 3-way conversations". -WOIO

i like the WEWS article better though. not only did it come out first, but it informed us that castro spent 20 min clipping his nails before his last pretrial hearing... damn.

hey guys, i wanted to start a new thread to answer unanswered questions from closed threads, but i am unable to do so. are moderators the only ones who can start threads? anyway, just wondering whether you guys would be interested in revisiting unanswered questions-- and, if so, whether someone with sufficient privileges would be willing to start the thread for me. :blushing:

First,

:welcome6:

:greetings: ckia2013

now, for your question regarding starting new threads - to "see" who the moderator is for any specific case or thread - you can look at the very bottom of each thread, and it says: first column: Copyright of Websleuths second column: New to Site? - under that it says: View Forum Leaders - click on that - and it will give you a list of the Moderators and 'which' cases they take care of.

It looks like beach is our Moderator here and you can send her a PM (Private Message) and tell her basically what your thread will be about! Hope that helps!

Edited to add: or you can click on the Contact us button to contact the Moderator!

and again...

:welcome4:

I believe that WS has a rule that you can't start a new thread until you've made so many posts. Maybe 50? Once you've made that many posts you will become able to start threads.

What unanswered questions do you have?

Thank you, mysteriew! Yup, sounds like 50 is the magic # :) I'll have to get chatty on yet another thread  I actually meant that I was going to tackle answering some of the dozens of unanswered questions from closed threads (off the top of my head, I know someone asked what Pedro and Onil were like-- and whether they had wives/children). Although I wasn't going to bring my own questions up, I certainly do have plenty. For example, I would like to know whether Felix DeJesus went to Castro's last pretrial, as I had heard he was considering. Here is a potentially inappropriate one: I wonder which Castro uncle molested Ariel (assuming his "suicide" letter assertion was truthful).

1. Have any of the victims families been at any of the hearings? Looks to me like just reporters, and maybe a few random members of the general public.

2. The contents of that suicide letter have not been released. If it does name the uncle, it's probably just a bunch of BS anyway.
