Yes, miscarriages of justice do happen. Adult, seemingly reasonable people can get convinced en-masse of the most ridiculous theories. Chris recalled Lindy Chamberlain case recently. From USA cases that satanic daycare hysteria comes to my mind.

Yes. It is a frightening thought. This whole business of him being protected as a drug informant ( and really, what ELSE explains why he was never arrested when caught breaking and entering???) is really deeply disturbing to me. Our informant committed a murder! Let's distract from that. Ugh, when on this subject I feel myself being drawn back to the lone wolf stance, and that the police themselves are responsible for Kercher's murder....ugh, better not think on it, I'll get ill..... :tears:

Perhaps the prank was not well-received in that it caused Meredith to not only get angry, but also insult Amanda. Say some insulting things to her. Perhaps things which had been in the back of her mind, and when she was pushed to a point by Amanda, she just let all of those thoughts out.

And Amanda, thinking they were very good friends and not aware of any of these feelings that Meredith had about her, was very surprised. And very hurt.

You know, it's not hard to imagine....that someone you think of as a very good friend, and suddenly they say some mean things to you, out of nowhere. Because it would have been out of nowhere, as Amanda herself has said that she thought she and Meredith were good friends and there was no tension. And she has said herself that she did not know anything about what Meredith had told her British friends about her.

So perhaps Meredith said some mean things to Amanda in the moment, because she was so annoyed and so perturbed at Amanda.

And then Guede out of nowhere rapes and kills her. OK.

This is why I am constantly checking myself, reigning myself in, as it were. Attempting to see both sides , and find the middle point, the balance....there is always the human temptation to be drawn in, bewitched by psychology and depths - and if these are all in keeping with the facts, fine.

But they have been known to lead one astray, and far away from the facts. And then you are like the shipwrecked sailor, who has followed the siren call to disaster. Reason has to reign in the deeper passions and inspirations.... Or it can draw you into madness.....

I have to agree with Katody's comment; Amanda was responding to a comment on her website. I can't find your original post right now but I believe she was actually responding to a question from a commenter. She seems to be pretty responsive on her blog in that way.

So, was she answering the question because she had a sensation of guilt from "staging" after the murder, or because she answers most questions on her blog?

Personally, I don't see the evidence of staging, so I don't see the relevance either, or the entire scenario based on pranks leading to anger leading to murder.

I believe SMK was "furious" because Katody interpreted his words and post shall we say, differently, than what he the way he intended.

Yes, he's not bright, he's messed up. And yet, even when he was caught and caught again, he was given a total pass. Why is this? Was he being protected by his adopted parents? Or let go to avoid embarrassing them? Or was he a clever manipulator of the police and convinced them to let him go again and again?

I think he's dangerous and sociopathic and I will never understand why he is considered to be only a bit player in this crime.

Guede used to not hurry at all on his burglaries. He went to the kitchen, probably looked around and then sat on the toilet, before taking anything.


Disposing a laptop or two doesn't seem troubling when you have clothes, shoes and other things to throw anyway.

That's if we take your view that there was no looking-through Filomena's room. I don't know, but it seems strange to me that the innocence side so badly wants to believe in a burglar, yet don't want to accept the things that a burglar would do. Very strange.

IMO he didn't know, or care. I don't think he really expected Meredith to walk in either. The assault wasn't his reason for the break-in, it happened because he found himself alone with Meredith in the apartment.

It just seems very rash to me, not calm and calculated.

If the Perugia police were using him as a drug informant, it would explain this strange "protection" of him, and the hesitation to arrest him after his burglaries. Perhaps he was so over-confident, that he felt invincible.

Or perhaps because he didn't actually hurt anyone in the burglaries, and he seemed so dumb, they thought he was not really harmful.

Of course, they made a dangerous miscalculation.

But I think maybe his dumbness came off to them like he would not be dangerous to anyone.
