Why not just give the quote from the original transcripts?

Sure.

GIUDICE - Per capire un profano la diagnosi generica relativa
alla tetrametilbenzidina, ecco, per capirci questa serve a?'
RISPOSTA - A evidenziare eventualmente sangue.
GIUDICE - ok!

JUDGE - To understand a layman on the generic diagnosis
the tetramethylbenzidine, here, to understand this is to?
ANSWER - To highlight possibly blood.
JUDGE - ok! And here there is a degree of sensitivity?
ANSWER - It is very sensitive, now I do not know how to say it to him, however, in common practice ...
JUDGE - There also cites false positives of the series ...
VOICES - (inaudible because overlapping) ...
ANSWER - Yes, in the sense that it does not distinguish whether it is human or animal blood, for example.
JUDGE - But where is negative, I understand that leaves quite convinced that it is not?
ANSWER - Yes, that is not blood, it is not, yes.

How did Sollecito's DNA end up on the metal clasp of a bra that was cut from a murder victim? Did he need finger nails to leave DNA on the clasp? Why did Sollecito's lawyer request that a photo of his hands at the time of the murder be admitted as evidence in this appeal? Did Bongiorno intend to include that photo in her knife wielding testimony, perhaps something about how he didn't have any visible injuries on his hands, or is it about his short finger nails, and that people with short finger nails don't deposit DNA?

Are you still using Google Translate to understand the subtleties and innuendo in Italian courtroom language? It seems to me that context is very important, and that without context, meaning is further skewed. A sentence or paragraph pulled out of context and electronically converted to English cannot be accurate, regardless of how well it fits with an hypothetical scenario.

Personally I think it was planted. They had nothing on him once Doc Sollecito went on TV proving the footprints weren't from his Nikes.

Here is a proper English translation of the key part.

JUDGE: However where the result is negative I’m given to understand that it’s almost certain that it is not [blood]?

ANSWER: Yes, it’s not blood, it is not, yes

Personally I think it was planted. They had nothing on him once Doc Sollecito went on TV proving the footprints weren't from his Nikes.

The footprints are Adidas shoes, two different sizes. Sollecito is, in part, guilty by association since he declined to state that Knox was not with him on the night of the murder, although he did make that claim on Nov 5. A couple of days later he freaked while watching the news and wrote in his diary that if Meredith's DNA was on his knife, it was because he pricked her with a knife while preparing dinner at his apartment. That story fell apart when Meredith's friends came forward and stated that if Meredith had dinner at Sollectio's apartment, they would know about it ... so it didn't happen.

Even after their arrest, Knox and Sollecito were attempting to manipulate the truth. Sollecito hoped to get away with claiming that Meredith had dinner at his apartment, presumably as a guest of Sollecito and Knox ... hoping that her friends didn't really know what she was doing from day to day. Knox admitted to her mother (wire tap) that she had falsely accused Patrick of murder, yet neither she nor her mother reported this to authorities ... a clear attempt to manipulate the facts of the case. Meredith, Knox's roommate, had been murdered, and Knox was lying to police about all sorts of things.

Who said this again?

You mean Nike shoes.

I think the defence is going to humiliate Maresca today. As in shame him for withholding the truth from the Kercher family. Lets see.

  • #851
Wasn't there an Adidas print on the pillow case, size 37?
Was that Nike?

We were talking about the shoe prints the cops originally said were Raffaele's that turned out to be Guede's. They both had Nike shoes.

The family is fluent in Italian and has followed the case closely. What sort of "surprise" could there be with Meredith's lawyer? Is there going to be a slandering of his character ... again?

I thought we were discussing all of the prints found at the crime scene. Guede was wearing Nike, and there was apparently a size 37 ... was it an Adidas print, on the pillow case? Did the print attributed to Sollecito turn out to belong to Knox?

As far as I know, there were Nike and Adidas shoe prints at the crime scene, as well as barefoot prints belonging to Knox and Sollecito.

Only Stephanie speaks Italian. Were do you get the idea the whole family speaks Italian?

He's a reprehensible and despicable liar who has objected and blocked every attempt to find the truth about what happened.

Yes, the family is well aware of the court proceedings and the activities of their lawyer. Where do you get the idea that the family will be shocked by some sort of new revelation about the lawyer?

It is well known that Knox is particularly intimidated by Meredith's lawyer and that there have been several attempts by Knox and her supporters to not only silence and discredit her lawyer, but those that believe in Justice for Meredith ... even if it means that a woman from the US will get away with murder.

"He's a reprehensible and despicable liar who has objected and blocked every attempt to find the truth about what happened"

The above appears to be a slander against the victim's family lawyer. Perhaps what he has really done is block Knox from getting away with murder.

Lets just see what happens. I believe the defence is going to call him out and humiliate him in front of Nencini.

Thanks, but I can't make heads or tails from it. Especially since there is an inaudible there that can't be translated nor does Stefanoni specifically mention that she is talking about TMB. From the literature as well as the Massei report it is clear that a negative TMB result is not decisive. It would only make sense if Stefanoni was talking about Luminol.

He relies on emotive and inflammatory arguments to make his case. Any student of debate can tell you that you use that strategy when the facts are not on your side.

If you need to use emotion to sway a jury, it is because you know that you cannot prove beyond reasonable doubt, so you try to cloud their minds in other ways.

It couldn't be more clear she is answering Micheli about TMB but I'm not surprized at all by your reply.
