“She opened the door with the keys and I went inside. I noticed that Filomena’s door was wide-open and glass on the floor and the room was in a mess. Amanda’s door was open and instead everything was in order. Then I went by Meredith’s door and I saw that it was key locked. First I looked if it was true what Amanda told me about blood in the bathroom and I noticed drops of blood in the sink, while on the bathmat there was something strange, a sort of mixture of water and blood, while the rest of the bathroom was clean… The rest was in order. At that very moment Amanda entered the big bathroom and came out frightened, strongly hugging me telling me that before, when she had the shower, she had seen some feces in the toilet that as opposed to now was clean. I asked myself what was happening and went out to see if I could manage to climb to Meredith’s window (Knox makes the same statement)… I tried to breakdown the door but I didn’t succeed and at that point I decided to call my sister and get her advice because she is a lieutenant in the Carabinieri. She told me to call 112, but in the meantime the postal police arrived. In the previous statement I told you a lot of crap because she [AK] convinced me of her version of the facts and I didn’t think of the inconsistencies."

Note: she saw the faeces, hugged him, then he went outside to check Meredith's window, tried to break the door and then the Postal Police arrived.

Knox didn't make just one phone call to Meredith on Halloween evening. I believe it was three phone calls. Meredith did not respond to any of the phone calls from Knox. Knox's Halloween, where she and Sollecito were dolled up in face paint, ended for the night at Sollecito's apartment by 10 PM. Meredith attended four parties until 6 AM.

Biggest Issue? I suppose that would be level of dishonesty between the pair.

Do you think that Meredith just blurted out to Sollecito that she was wearing jeans that used to belong to her ex-boyfriend in England? She wasn't wearing someone else's clothes. Her ex-boyfriend gave them to her. He would only do that if they looked really good on her ... and they probably did. (note: this is an assumption, as I don't believe men simply lose their jeans to their girlfriend, they let them go)

It's not sinister, it's weird that Sollecito knew this intimate detail about Meredith even though they had only met twice. Knox definitely seems the type to be far too intimate far too fast, but not Meredith.

Why would she tell Sollecito that she was wearing pants that were a gift from her boyfriend, yet when Sollecito last saw her, she left quickly and didn't tell say where she was going.

I think he said that "she didn't say where she was going" to imply that she may have encountered her fate any time after she left at 4 ... widen the time frame of the murder. Did he know that she was meeting friends for dinner?

That narrative isn't true. Could you provide cites please when stating things at fact.

Do you happen to have a link to the blood stain on the sheet without the knife overlay? I'd like to have a look at the dimensions of the knife and sheet independently.

i found the overlay pic on the PMF site: crime scene photots section. there are other photos there with the stain.

http://www.perugiamurderfile.org/gallery/album.php?album_id=43

i tried to ascertain who made the overlay but could not. the italian tv station TG 5 showed the pic in a new story (as evidenced by their logo in the pic) but that doesn't mean they did the overlay. i hope whoever did, was honest/accurate.

thank you for the trial tweets.

What would you like a cite for? Please be specific.

This case has been ongoing for six years. Some people have followed the case from the beginning, and others have more recent or peripheral interest in the case. If you have followed the case for six years, then you are probably familiar with facts that are generally accepted. Which point needs a reference? All of them?

"The email that Amanda Knox has sent to the Court of Assizes of Appeal of Florence " is irregular . "Whomever wants to talk in the process should come to the process", said the President of the Court of Assizes Alessandro Nencini before reading the email sent by Amanda Knox. "Those are no spontaneous declarations " , said Nencini talking to Knox's lawyers. The President of the Court also pointed out that it were the lawyers who attributed the text to Amanda: "I 've never seen it , I do not know .""

On the surface, it doesn't look like it's going well for Knox.

It is an insult to the court. Judge is right to comment on this. Noted.

I think it's an insult they're not getting a fair trial. All defence requests bar one were denied, the jurors don't get to see the defence question killer Rudy Guede or hear any of the evidence. It seems they just have to go home and read thousands and thousands of pages of transcripts in there spare time....if they can be bothered. Or maybe they get on the internet or call up friends and ask about LCN DNA and what a Qubit Fluorometer dsDNA HS Kit is?

My understanding is that Italian law requires that the prosecutor offer conjecture regarding motive.

It is actually an insult to declare to a judge that one does not trust the judgement. To make a declaration of innocence but refuse to say it in person seems to undermine the credibility of the statement.

My understanding is that the Judge told Knox's lawyers that her email could not be used as a "spontaneous declaration"; which is allowed. An email is not a spontaneous declaration, so although it was read in court, it has no weight.

i got a speeding ticket in another province when driving here for my move. i called the justice office and they said since i was several provinces away now, i could send in a fax with my rebuttal (i was in the passing lane passing a line of trucks) and it would be used as my defense at my court date if i wanted to dispute the ticket. amanda, imo, only did the same thing.

btw, i just checked delta airlines: a flight booked even two months early from seattle to rome starts @ $2100. the return is the same.

The above linked email filtered through google translate, which makes no sense to me, but I understand that some people can read it

Email in googltrans:

"I am not present in the courtroom because I'm afraid . I fear that the vehemence of the prosecution will impress you , that their wool over your eyes will blind you . " Speaking of the accusations Amanda defines an " unfair and malicious abuse ."

" Meredith was my friend. She was nice to me , helped me , was generous and funny. She never criticized me. I was never even given a look. The prosecution - she continues - states that a rupture had taken place between me and Meredith for cleaning. This statement is a distortion of the facts. In the short period that Meredith and I were roommates and friends we never quarreled . "

"No one has ever seen or heard that Meredith and I had fought, quarrelled, discussed . Nobody ever said that Meredith was a freak antagonistic cleaning or that I was a freak antagonistic dirt . The prosecution would have you believe that this is the reason for the murder. But this is a disturbing distortion of the facts . "

"We need to recognize that a person can be brought to confess falsely because she psychologically tortured," she writes , referring to the slander against Patrick Lumumba. Amanda also tells of when they took her to the police station :

"They lied to me, yelled at me, threatened me, given me two slaps on the head. They told me that I would never see my family if I had not remembered what had happened to Meredith that night ."

"My behavior after the discovery of the murder indicates my innocence. I never thought or imagined that they would use my naive spontaneity to support their suspicions . I have not hidden my feelings when I needed comfort Raffaele hugged me when I was angry and I was making insensitive remarks ."

"I never showed antisocial, aggressive, violent or psychopathic behavior. I'm not addicted or obsessed with sex. When I was arrested I was tested for drugs and are found to be negative."

The Prosecution and civil parties "want you to think I'm a monster because it is easy to condemn a monster." Amanda, referring to the knife that she is supposed to have used for the murder, calls it an "invented evidence" and defines the prosecutions arguments as "theatrical arguments", "evidence inconclusive and unreliable" and also "disturbing and unacceptable distortion of the facts."

"The prosecution and civil parties - she adds - are committing injustices against me because they can not admit, even to themselves, that they have done terribly wrong. I did not kill. I have not raped. I have not plotted. I have not instigated. I was not there and had nothing to do with it. I am innocent - concludes Amanda - Raffaele is innocent. Meredith and her family deserve the truth. Please put an end to this enormous and exhausting injustice."
