Can I ask... why is this thread listed as Petersburg, VA? I know Amy lived there but she disappeared while docking in Curacao... Sorry if I'm confused!!! :tyou:

It is where she lived and also where the court was that declared her dead.

I was very surprised to see some activity on this case! (updated FBI page, sketch of Amy, and Disappeared episode) I wonder if it's because it's the 20th anniversary of her disappearance, or does the FBI have some new information?

I've followed this case for about 18 years and I feel like I'm just spinning my wheels. If I remember correctly, the Bradleys had Amy legally declared dead in order to bring a lawsuit against Royal Caribbean, which they ultimately did not win.

I don't believe she fell over the balcony rails. I don't see how she could do so accidentally, as those things are about chest high. I don't have any ideas what happened to her, but I think someone got her off that ship. Unfortunately, I do not believe she is still alive at this point.

I think I agree that I don't believe she is alive at this point. But I do believe she was alive for a considerable amount of time following her disappearance.

Oh right, thanks. I think I just thought that usually the thread titles include where they disappeared from. Like with Natalee Holloway / Aruba.

All good, thanks for letting me know :)

Yes, the FBI stays involved until the case is closed.

The FBI is still involved in the Natalie Holloway case.

There is no body, the case is still officially open and FBI is still involved.

(I believe they said that on the FBI video, they stay on the case and pursue it until the case is closed)

Does anyone here really believe she is still alive?

I'm not sure if I believe that she is STILL alive today... she could be, and I'm open to that, but I'm also open to the fact that she is not. But, I do think she was alive for a considerable amount of time after her disappearance (years).

Officially, Amy was reported missing while the ship was still at sea in international waters. I can change the title to reflect that. She was last confirmed alive on the ship at sea.

That makes more sense, too true liltexans, I didn't think of that. Thank you for explaining.

Well, we spent how many years discussing everything BUT overboard and we didn't solve the case, so maybe its time to discuss the overboard theory for a few years (and not solve the case).

This case isn't going to be solved.

Or maybe we can discuss the theories that everyone has (within reason) :) and no, you're probably right, the likely hood is that Amy's case will not be solved. As others won't either :( But we're here to discuss them anyways, so, here we go :)

That's right, it wasn't the FBI, thanks for correcting me, although the agency involved with the arrest wasn't the point.

That said, I don't think the discussion concerning this person who was arrested should continue on as it appears to be off limits. I'm also getting the distinct impression that only one theory is acceptable here, that she went overboard. In light of that I'm not sure what there is to discuss. So have a great day everyone.

neesaki, I don't believe Amy went overboard so please head back, I'd like to hear more on your thoughts :)

There is a question of whether the ship was in international waters or not... it was close so it would probably be reasonable and mostly true to change it to international waters. (The article about the Bradleys having to leave the ship to contact FBI explains it)

12 nautical miles is international waters.

At any rate, she wasn't in virginia when she went missing!

Okay, I changed the title of the thread to more accurately reflect where Amy was reported missing. It's hard to be exact, but hopefully this is better than listing her home state. :)

It's no problem. You are correct that we normally list where the person is reported missing, which is not necessarily where they live. As Tricia mentioned, this thread is old. We're trying to revive it so it may need some updating. :)

Oh, about whether or not she had shoes on... how can they know? I usually don't know offhand how many shoes I pack for a cruise--I just throw several pair in. My mother, brother, father would have no idea how many shoes I packed.

Could be as simple as when they were unpacking, Amy made a comment like 'wow, can't believe I brought 7 pairs of shoes'. Something one of my girls might say.

I agree.

Some things that never made sense to me

1) Amy and her family spent all day in Aruba until dinner, then went to dinner, then spent family time together until her parents went to sleep, then she and Brad "partied hard" until 4 am, at 5:30 am she was sea sick but by 6 am her family thinks she went for coffee with yellow?

Has anyone here tried to stay up for 24 hours straight? By the last several hours you are not in control of your body. You are on autopilot and your body is trying to shut down for sleep.

2) eyewitness sightings are notoriously unreliable, but this case has supposedly at least 8 "verified" eyewitness sightings that her family believes.

Sorry, nope. Not buying it.

3) no one claimed the $250,000 but continued a life of crime dragging her around and into the US when 250k would give a life of luxury in the caribbean

Now debunked concepts

1) there was no beach sighting of Amy with two handlers with her tattoos sighted. This was imaginary and part of the long con

2) Alfred Cotten and his wife are not associated with this case in any way, shape or form.
I disagree with item 1). David Carmichael claimed to have seen Amy with 2 handlers. The person he saw had a Tasmanian devil tattoo like Amy. No?

I feel like that’s a fairly common name but when I get home on my ‘puter I’ll try to find out more info. I’m at a pub right now. Cheers!

There were apparently more beach handler sightings that I remembered.

Says who? Just asking, as in how could you possibly know this? A link or two? TIA
