these monsters are both 18 so I believe will be tried as adults (Maryland abolished the death penalty in 2013)

Jonah Michael Poole and Kylee Alyssa Dakes, both 18, have been charged with murder, conspiracy and arson in the death of Edward Stephen Koza, the owner of Tropic Bay Water Gardens, a koi pond business in Davidsonville, Maryland.

Dakes' lawyer pleaded for bail: “She was supposed to be graduating at 1:30 today with honors” and said there is no motive, no evidence, no statement, no confession, “and no reason she would do anything like this.” The judge denied bail for both teens and neither attended their high school graduation.

"At this time, based on all of the facts and circumstances under consideration, investigators believe the suspects attacked Koza at the business sometime during the evening of May 24, 2025 near closing time. Jonah Poole and Kylee Dakes are responsible for the murder of Edward Koza. Koza was assaulted and taken captive by the suspects. Koza likely was put into the backseat of the truck at this point and was driven around the area for an unknown purpose. Ultimately, Poole and Dakes drove the victim truck, likely with Koza inside of the truck, and drove to the BP Station to purchase gasoline. Investigators believe this gasoline was purchased to use as an accelerant. Poole and Dakes returned to the Tropic Bay where Poole's vehicle, the red Lincoln MKS, was parked. The suspects set the vehicle on fire with Koza in the rear passenger area and then fled the scene inthe red Lincoln."

Editor's Note*
We are aware of a video circulating that's allegedly connected to the investigation of Edward Koza's death. Anne Arundel County Police say that homicide detectives are attempting to authenticate the video as part of the ongoing investigation.

That video is easily found by searching Edwards name on Facebook. Doesn’t look like a security camera video to me, more like she was using her phone, JMO.

"...Days before the murder, on May 18, police said Poole allegedly broke into Pirates Cove restaurant in Galesville, caused about $6,000 in damage, and stole more than $11,000 from the safe.

The restaurant said in a statement that Dakes was an employee there until May 13. People familiar with Poole believe he was a previous employee of Koza's at Tropic Bay, but WJZ is working to confirm that.

... Dakes was planning to attend Notre Dame of Maryland to study radiology and had received more than $200,000 in scholarships."

Is it thought the video was possibly taken by s0m€one involved? WJZ showed a bit of vid in @Kip’s post and the filmer would seem to be only 2-3 feet from person ligh+ing. 😡 MOO.

Judge rules defendant in garden shop owner's death is competent to stand trial

"She's a really sweet kid, she's smart, she's caring, she's popular," Jezic said. "She had a full scholarship to go to Notre Dame in Baltimore, and her family's behind her 100%. She has a tight-knit family, she was raised well, she's a sweet person. We're going to plead not guilty, and at trial, we have a lot to say about her innocence, and we're looking forward to it."

The judge set a two-week trial for Dakes to take place in June 2026, while Poole is due back for a status conference in November.

I vaguely suspect that the'wrongness' may of multiplied after they met each other. Perhaps:

- Prior to meeting, both of them as individuals have latent fantasies about harming others or going on a "Bonnie and Clyde" type murder / robbery spree. As separate individuals, however, they are not inclined to act on those fantasies.

- But.... as a couple, they reinforce each other's latent fantasies and start to "feed off" each other. Things that were once distant fantasies now seem like real possibilities. As the "snowball" gets larger, possibilities then become impulse driven realities.

There are examples of couples that could suggest "feeding off, then snowballing". For example, Erica and Benjamin Sifrit. Something snaps and Benjamin goes from Navy Seal honor graduate to deserter. (technically, he was not a Seal as he deserted during his probationary year).

He then meets Erica, who also has no criminal record. Violent fantasies then snowball? Once together, they "thrill kill" a couple using over the top violence for vague motives. Erica then boasts of having a "Bonnie and Clyde" type homicide relationship. Indications suggest that she was a fully willing partner, and perhaps even the dominant partner.
