You're kidding, right? The audience the Chicks are reaching at the moment (including yours truly) couldn't care less what they say about Reba. But since you mention it, they didn't actually insult Miss McIntyre, they merely said they weren't courting her audience. Hardly the "dis" you folks are making it out to be. (What she said about them at the ACMA was far worse, but even that wasn't particularly nasty (as I have said before).)

There's something about the Dixie Chicks that makes otherwise reasonable posters go a little nuts.
No I am not kidding, didnt they just say the otehr night on LKL that the comment to Reba was because she made an effort to talk about them after the whole bush fiasco? So yes, I think it was a "dis" to reba. They may reach an audience which I could care less if they do or not, It wont be over here. :D

Oh, please. Lots of us regular folks agree with Natalie Mains and say the same things, on and off the job. And frankly, people said far worse - and with less cause - about Bill Clinton.
We are not saying people do not agree with Natalie, but to use her public platform to run her big mouth over and over again, well that is career suicide and thats on them. They should not whine about the effects of it and take it out on other country music stars. They are just jealous that they are not in the "limelight" anymore.

 Career Suicide?

Did you not see this?? (borrowed from Narlacat's post)

Dixie Chicks New Album, Taking The Long Way, Debuts At #1 On Billboard Top 200

NEW YORK, May 31 /PRNewswire/ -- As Taking The Long Way debuts at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 best-selling albums chart this week, with first week's sales of 525,829, the Dixie Chicks have become the first female group in chart history to have three albums debut at #1, breaking the record the Chicks established in 2002 when the group's last studio album, Home, debuted at #1 and made them the first female group ever to have two albums debut at #1.

With the #1 debut of Taking The Long Way, the Dixie Chicks have also become the first female group in chart history to have three studio albums occupy the #1 slot on the Top 200.

Apparently not everyone has their panties in a wad- this is the kind of career suicide that I think even Reba would enjoy!

Artists have "used their public platforms to run their big mouths" for anti-war purposes for a mighty long time.

May those who have influence always use it to end violence.

How are the dixie chicks trying to end Violence? They are ALWAYS trying to pick a fight with someone. I mean what about natalies FUTK t-shirt she wore. I definatly dont want my kids by the music or even listening to the likes of her. I see where her morals are with wearing a shirt like that and she talks about everyone else and how people yelled "screw the chicks" she was upset about that! She has nerve.

Yeah, but didn't she say that FUTK stood for Freedom, Unity, Truth, Knowledge or something similar? :p Besides, Toby is so over it and has moved on.

Natalie has always been an outspoken rebel, she was like that as a child from what I've read/heard. She marches to the beat of her own drummer and I admire her for not allowing herself to being forced to fit into a certain mold. She thinks for herself and makes no apologies for it, and I wish I had half that kind of confidence.

But we all know what the shirt was really about. I mean she can cover it up all she wants. Also she did apologize for making the comment than retracted it later when this new album came out. But we all have our own opinions and thats ok. I used to be a fan, but I am not no longer, so I guess to each his own...

Well I would like to know why they didn't stick around when the battle was on three years ago? Why did they disappear if they had so much to say? Instead they wait three years and then come back swinging like they've never been gone. Doesn't make any sense to me. They don't come back swinging at Bush though....they come back swinging at Toby and Reba and country music fans.

Reading the manuscript from Larry King Live half of what they said doesn't even make any sense. But I do remember them saying that they would be happy to go over and put on a concert for the troops so we shall see how much their word is worth.

ITA!

I love the chicks. I remember one summer, I took my kids on lots of road trips. We listened to the chicks so much, I am sure they know every word to every song...I just bought their new disk. They're coming to town in November, and I am taking my kids!

(hi Nova!:blowkiss: )
