The entire Anthony family knew on July 15th that Caylee was deceased and went into cover-up mode immediately.
I knew something was really wrong with the picture when George and Cindy did their first sit down interview in their home with local news media on Friday, July 18th, two days after Casey's arrest. In that interview, neither George or Cindy made a plea with the kidnapper to return their beloved granddaughter. Instead, they talked about child safety, and how they always make sure the pool ladder is put away after swimming, how the tool shed is locked, and how Casey uses a shovel to dig up bamboo in the backyard so Caylee wouldn't get stuck by bamboo shoots.
It was much later when we learned there was an issue with the tool shed being broken into on June 24th and that George made a police report. It was also later that we learned that there was an issue with the pool ladder, and that Casey had borrowed a shovel from a neighbor on June 18th. In retrospect, it was interesting how Cindy wove details into that interview that would later become issues. Both George and Cindy knew then what had happened, and were trying to build a defense.
But what really got my attention during that interview was that there were none of the emotions one expects with frightened grandparents who's grandchild is truly missing.
The story Lee told about the JBP kidnapping while being deposed by JM was just an extension of the lies the family has told in an attempt to steer the investigation away from Casey. They all know it's a lie, but they will all adhere to this lie, thinking it will save Casey from a murder conviction.
Lee's deposition is glaring proof of the extent the Anthony family will go to avoid telling the truth. If Lee really believed Casey's story of Caylee being kidnapped at JBP, and he didn't tell LE, this again is glaring proof that he was willing to engage in a cover-up of the facts as he knew them......withholding information. It's not difficult at all to see why Lee, George, and Cindy have requested immunity.
