Anthonys Seek Private Jail Visit With Casey

Which would only mean something if the Anthony's were asking for a private untaped visit. AGAIN, they're only asking that the video not be released to the public.

ORLANDO, Fla. - George and Cindy Anthony's lawyer confirmed that the family wants to set up a special private video visit with Casey Anthony.

Brad Conway, the Anthonys attorney, said the family realizes the video session with Casey Anthony would have to be monitored by jail staff but they do not want a video of it released.

So it would be video taped and monitored, just not released?

I wonder, since it says private, and no mention of JB, that G & C don't want him there.

Also, does anyone know if it could possibly be used in her trial if there is something on there that they could use?

How many other inmates have their visits with their family on TV night after night? It seems LE and the jail as well as Nancy Grace and friends are the ones that have made them "special" by doing so.

I suppose that other inmates' videos are not requested by the media under the sunshine laws that were instituted almost 40 years ago. Florida has government in the sunshine, like it or not.

Of course it is. All that the A's are asking is that the video not be released to the public. Other inmates have videotaped visits - I'd be willing to bet that not one of those videos can be found online. The A's aren't asking for anything special or out of the ordinary. Just the opposite, they're asking for the same treatment everyone else gets.

The videos are not online because no one has asked for them. These video visitations are released under the Sunshine Law, not because it is Casey A.

Excellent question. Why indeed? If they're asking for something above and beyond why plaster it all over the news? If they don't get it they'll be seen as victims? (I don't think so, public sentiment is not on their side). If they DO get it they can crow?

I don't need to see them talk to Casey. I find it unbearable in many ways. I get totally confused by what gets released under open records provisions in Florida, as opposed to what comes out in the course of discovery and/or is a matter of court record. But I could see the judge being limited in what he could allow by the provisions of the law. If there were a media request for a video of an interview, and it didn't come within any exception to disclosure, it would likely have to be released. Life is not good and normal when you're indicted for murder and in jail awaiting trial, but she's in the same boat with a lot of people.

I think that there is a huge problem with Baez to be honest with you. He will not allow contact between Casey and the parents unless he is in complete control. Fortunately, BC doesn't agree it seems. So if BC puts it out in the public, then Baez not only has to fight with the parents, he must also explain that he will not allow the parents to see their child..
I think Conway is figuring out ways to prove to not only the Anthony's but to the public that Baez is out for himself.

That doesn't sound like he took it to the media, it sounds like the media got wind of it and contacted him.

I'm sure that anything said could be used at the trial. They can't get around that.

All visitor's for all inmates are recorded one way or another. Under Florida's Sunshine Law, they may release the videos. It's the law. It might be a minor law, but that does NOT mean it should be broken.

And yes, I want to watch another jailhouse video of the family to pick apart...I'm always honest.

I just don't think that JB is going to allow this to happen and since it was broadcast on TV I imagine he is aware of the Anthony's request. I don't think KC would do it either, in that statement JB read it sounded like she was a little angry with them. I think she, KC, is going to listen to whatever JB has to say and right now I don't think she's looking to do anything for her parent's.

Maybe they know there is no way in H KC will talk to them if she knows it is being recorded, so they would never get the chance to try to coax the truth out of her. Is it normal and routine, for a whole family to visit an inmate charged with murder of a child, to visit in private? I have heard of visits....but usually they are one person at a time. Please enlighten me.

Another point...I thought BC was to represent the parents and not get involved in anything to do with Casey. This request should be going through JB not BC....

These people really push the limits....and it is just beginning, folks. This inmate has received so many special things. If she were a normal inmate she would be in general pop....so that is special treatment. How much more is the Sherriff's dept supposed to do for this family? Time and money resources have been depleted, just for her. This entire family is pushing too many buttons and it needs to stop.

I'd have to bet by now that the other inmates in this facility are developing a deep distaste for the "Special Homey" :behindbar

Timely riding on the coat tails of sympathy for their public grief. Like to push the envelope, don't they? I wish they would go away.

So well stated, elementary! I agree, and I also wish they would just stay out of the spotlight. B. Conway needs to stop his little everyday press conferences.

The Anthony's have had their memorial and I did not post one single thing about it yesterday except on the jewelry thread. I had given myself a self imposed T/O on that subject. All I can say is that I loved the music. Now that the memorial is over and the trial seems to be a year away, I wish they would just stay out of the public eye and the press.

And I do not think they should have a private visit.

I don't buy it. They KNOW the crux of what happened. The baby is dead. It's not like there's some ticking time bomb where the rules should be bent to save a life. Their curiosity about the details will just have to wait.

ETA: She NOT GOING TO CONFESS!!! Not to her parents, or her brother or anyone else!

She can have what they call a "shade meeting" with her lawyer or a priest, but she must meet her parents in the "sunshine." It's just that simple. It has nothing to do with what the jail will or will not do. It is the jail's customary procedure to videotape visitations and they cannot just willy nilly decide not to tape Casey's visitors. From that point on, it is not the jail's decision as to whether or not it will be released. The quoted article stated the situation incorrectly. If the tape is requested I feel certain it will be released. There is no "partly cloudy" weather in this set of laws!
