On September 11, 2001, United Airlines Flight 93 from Newark to San Francisco was hijacked by terrorists. Passengers on board attempted to wrestle control of the airplane from the terrorists and the plane crashed, killing all on board. Frank Robertazzi of East Hanover, New Jersey was supposed to be on that plane. He regularly took Flight 93 to fly to his business meetings in San Francisco. So was Daniel Belardinelli. His uncle, William Cashman, was on Flight 93. Daniel and his uncle were going to fly out west together for a vacation. Heather Ogle was booked for First Class, Seat 1A; two seats away from the lead terrorist. Through a series of unwitting decisions and quirks of fate, Robert, Daniel, and Heather narrowly escaped death. Inter-cutting between our characters' point of view and the broader story of 9/11 this hour illuminates the thin line that separates life and death.

You know this is a different movie, right?
It is confusing ... Just making sure. This is not Flight 93.

When I first read this post, I thought this was reairing for people who may have said "I missed flight 93" as in the movie "flight 93".
But this program and time that you listed is for a show that will air about the people who were supposed to be on the plane but missed the flight or took a different flight. They talk about their experiences about living and a knowing someone who died on the plane, ec. It's only an hour program.

Just wanted to make sure others knew this was a different show all together. Maybe you all did know that and I am just a dork :blowkiss:

Well, I'm not going to watch it. I heard one soundbite, "Mom, our plane has been hijacked, I just wanted to call and say I love you". And then on some radio talk show, I'm thinking Hannity but I could be wrong, he said every 5 minutes someone called and said I love you goodbye.

I'd rather hit myself with a stick for an hour than watch that show. Geez.

LOS ANGELES - A television movie about one of the doomed Sept. 11 airplanes was A&E's most-watched program ever, a sign that audiences may be ready for a coming spate of movie and TV projects dramatizing the terrorism of five years ago.

i don't know if i'm "ready for a coming spate", but i thought the movie was interesting, for sure.....

The movie is not for everyone, I guess.
But it figures some smart alec "radio" guy would make light of the movie like that.
What a shame. It's not like that actually. While there might be 6 key conversations, the movie is mostly about taking the plane down. In fact, a few people didn't even want to talk to anyone. Beamer talked to his wife but didn't even say goodbye to his kids that I can recall. The one passenger kept talking to the lady operator on the phone and didn't call home... The one lady passenger who took the earlier flight only talked to an answering machine and didn't even really indicate that she wasn't coming back home. She just said they were having a little bit of trouble.

Sounds to me like the radio guy is insensitive. Good thing for him, he didn't lose anyone on that plane.

I still don't get your post?
Which story makes it better either way?

If it was shot down by US forces, as you suggest, then that makes Bush the hero, right?

But if it really happened as the movie was told, that makes these people the heroes.

Regardless, it shows that there's a real problem of terrorism, and that the terrorists hijacked our planes on our land and killed our innocent people.
Bottom line, we have to take back our country and our rights and our world
from the Stalins and the Hitlers and the Husseins and the Bin Ladens and other terrorist groups, including those BTK, Green River, Bundy, Dahmer and other mass murderers right here in our own country. They are terrorists, too.
And I think that is why most of us come here. I can't speak for everyone.
I come here because I care about the murdered children and missing people taken from us everyday by the killers and crazed in our own country.

I don't care who is President, really, (I mean, I do but you know what I mean...) these problems have existed and will exist. At least he's trying to do something about it. It's just not enough.
More needs to be done in our own country to stop the crime here.
Our laws are obviously not tough enough or there wouldn't be so much of what we see and read about everyday right here on websleuths.

But back to flight 93.
I have to believe that based on accounts by family members and those who took calls from the people on the plane, that this story is pretty darned near close to accurate. We will never know everything, but at least we know this much. And it's very, very sad. I am surely glad I am still alive. So many people died from that tragic day.
And what a waste of a day that was, when so many people were just waking up, and going about their normal routines, suspecting nothing like that would happen. :(
Wonderful post Maura!:blowkiss:

I remember coming home the day of the original WTC bombings and noticing that virtually every building I passed on Houston, eveyone was standing on their rooves. When I got home, I found out what had happened and went and stood on the roof of the apartment building with everyone else. I was probably 2 miles away, two and a half, as the crow flies, and could see the smoke coming up from the WTC for hours. And within a hour traffic on Houston was backed up for miles, as they had shut down the Holland Tunnel due to bomb scares. I became very much aware that I was living on an island at that moment, and started making plans to move within the next year.
