April 15th Hearing

did he say 'calender call?' for that october hearing?

seems like the da is making comments leading to a plea with the witch.

i hope not

That was my impression as well. He said he has evidence suggesting she was under PG's control. It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out. The case against PG is pretty much a slam dunk, but what happens with NG seems like something of a wild card at the moment.

I screwed up on something. The procedure to get in is to go to the court entrance at 12:30, get a ticket, and then the actual proceedings start at 1:30. I had brought a notebook, but when I got there I parked & went to find Dr. Doogie, and I ran out of time to go back and get my notebook. Dr. Doogie took notes, though.

This is kind of OT, but I think it's funny that you have to get tickets. Dr. Doogie was joking about scalpers before the last hearing. LOL!

well if they arent looking to make a deal with her it makes no sense to make that kind of comment

Nancy is small, Phillip is tall but does not look big per se - he's hunched over and just looks creepy.

For some reason, PG reminds me of Count Orlok from Nosferatu. LOL.

Interestingly, the DA also said at one point in court that he felt sorry for Nancy.

It was reported that he said that he had information "that could mitigate the guilt" of Nancy. That sounds to me that like he is preparing the public for a plea deal for her. It's an odd thing to say if you were not going to cut her any slack. It wouldn't suprise me at all if we see Nancy as a state witness before all this is done, it will probably end up like the Smart case.

Dear Adnoid,

I'm so sorry, I had to leave so I couldn't post your pictures.

Thank you for doing this. We all appreciate it.

One other thing. It's pretty clear that Phil and Nancy are in different positions here, as Nancy's attorney is very open about taking the position that Nancy is a victim and was under Phil's control.

Thinking about this on the drive home, this is a tricky one. If Phil's attorney argues that Jaycee was not a captive because she could have walked out, then they will have trouble arguing that Nancy was not as well. Nancy's attorney will surely paint her as someone under Phil's control in an effort to get lenient treatment for her - he said as much even in front of Phil's attorney. So the prosecution is going to need to paint them both as bad guys. Yet the DA said today he felt sorry for Nancy - so it will be interesting.

I wonder if the missing witness is someone with evidence of physical assault directed against Nancy - that could explain the DA's comment.

:blowkiss: to Dr. Doogie and Adnoid. GREAT REPORT,
Much better then the reporters have done to date. :)

Adnoid I am particularly impressed with you. I was afraid I may have to channel the information through your "one liners". You did not need the notebook, your brain is sharp. LOL Great feed back.

Dr. Doogie I love the way you did a quick synopsis post 55 and then you filled in the blanks in other posts, (my brain works really well with that) :)

Thank you guys you are both awesome :blowkiss:

Tricia: I think the first picture was perfect - it is a long road ahead. :) But after 18 years you can not rush this.

I know I am a bit late in commenting but great work guys.

In regards to Phil's attorney saying Jaycee was not a captive and could leave at any time, that would be hard for anyone to swallow and does not change the fact she was in fact kidnapped and raped and had two kids unless Phil is going to say they are not his. She was not even let out of the back yard for 4 years. By then she had one girl already. What, she supposed to leave her child behind? I think the reason Gellman is so terse in her comments (one news site said that) is because she knows there is no winning this case.

Anyway, again, great job guys. :)

well like i've said, i just love for them to claim jaycee just showed up at phils house one day on her own, with two kids in tow. that would sink them faster then the insanity defense will.

The doctor's last name was "Major", but I did not get a first name also.

It is interesting when you go to these events. The media is less informed than most of us here at WS. I have a decent working relationship with one of the reporters there and have been feeding questions at press confrences that I cannot attend to him to help bring him (and the other reporters) up to speed. A good example of this is when the daily pressers were happening when the search at the Garrido property was occuring looking for evidence related to Michaela Garecht and Ilene Mischeloff. I suggested that they ask: "Did the palmprint found on Michaela's scooter match Phil Garrido?" The answer was no, but the other reporters all did a double take because they were not even aware of the palmprint evidence. It made the reporter look good and answered a major question that alot of us here had about the case.

BTW: The name "Major" is phonetic - it may be spelled "Majar" or something similar.

i stil dont think he was involved in micheala's kidnapping. besides the palm print, that sketch looks like garrido circa his arrest in 1976, not what he looked like in 1988.

i think that sketch looks more like james devaggio.

i know the little girl who witnessed micheala's kidnappng said on dateline that the kidnapers eyes resembled garriods. but she stopped short of actually saying 'yes, thats him!"

very reminischint of when devaggio and his female accomplice were busted in s lake tahoe in 1997 for dumping the body of a girl they murdered there. when the photo of the female suspect, michelle michaud, was released in the newspaper, tahoe's radar went up......it seemed to be a exact match to the sketch carl gave of the womann who helped kidnnaped jaycee. terry even said 'my husband and i do agree there is a certian resemblence' and yet, here again, they stopped short of actually saying 'its her!"
