I may know how to create the event log error and no other network traffic for it on the home network.
BC closes the lid or otherwise causes the laptop to hibernate while still on the Cisco lan. The 3825 is also on that lan at that time and its IP is known. BC unplugs the laptop from the Cisco lan and goes home.
After the party, BC connects the laptop to his home lan and resumes the laptop. The IP used by 3825 on the Cisco network is used by some device already on the home lan. Duplicate IP address.
I may have missed something, but I have this happen sometimes with my iPhone. I lock it, eventually its powersave disables the wifi. When the iPhone fails to renew is lease on the IP, the IP becomes available, and when I turn on the laptop it is assigned the same IP. When I resume the iPhone, it tries to use that same IP and gets the conflict error.
I will check back when I return.
