GUILTY AR - Anne Pressly, 26, raped & murdered, Little Rock, 20 Oct 2008 #1

I guess I keep thinking it is someone she knew because she was found in bed with no sign of forced entry. I'm sure someone who would try to beat you to death wouldn't then put you to bed. The use of the credit card, someone could have used it hoping to throw LE off. I never think about cameras being at a gas station. I would just think if robbery was the motive they would have used that credit card for more than gas. This is just what I'm thinking, I'm certain LE knows what they are talking about. I hope they find the person soon.

I wondered about that also.
On another note her dogs were outside, could she have opened door, been attacked in doorway and stumble back to bed?

I know when I am sick or hurt I immediatly hit the bed.

Hoping she recovers soon.
I think LE will find person.

I was just out walking my dog in the neighborhood. I don't live too far from one of the places where they searched so I was looking around just in case for anything odd.

Regarding the search at I-630 and Fair Park. I had a thought that perhaps he tried to use the credit card at the gas station there. I know that one asks for your zip code when you use it because I often buy gas there. Maybe he either guessed wrong or just changed his mind if he didn't know her zip code. Then he went to another one where he actually bought gas. It's just a thought. The Fair Park stop would have been on the way to the other gas station if he went a particular way.

I'm thinking if it was someone that she knew they could have let the dogs out. I just figure if she was critical it would have been too hard for her to make it back to bed. I guess there is no way of knowing without more information.

Reportedly she was found "IN the bed." To me that means she was in bed and was attacked, rather than "on the bed." However, there have been several typos in the official statements from the police department so this could just be a matter of wording and not mean a thing.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) _ A Little Rock police spokeswoman says detectives still haven't been able to speak with a television anchorwoman critically injured in an attack earlier this week.

Sgt. Cassandra Davis says Anne Pressly's medical condition still stops investigators from asking who attacked her and what happened at her home. Pressly's mother found her daughter battered and bleeding early Monday morning in bed at her home.

Davis says investigators have "no idea when we'll be able to talk to her."

Statement today from Anne's family:

"Anne had a good night, she's still in critical condition but signs are stable. The swelling in her brain is beginning to subside. Doctors are encouraged by her progress at this point. Ity is still too early too determine the full extent of her injuries.

The family continues to seek your prayers and appreciates your continued consideration of the request for privacy.

I took it to mean that she was "in" bed too. With no sign of forced entry, it's makes me think it was someone she knew. Thank goodness, her Mom went to check on her as soon as she did. Hopefully more information will be released and the person/s responsible will be caught.

Local newspaper today. Possible blood found in garbage can in MacArthur Park - this is near the gas station downtown. For those who aren't subscribers - it continues to say that even if what they found turns out to be blood, nothing so far links it to this case. No motive so far. A number of other areas searched around the city unsuccessfully. Discusses having the local tv station having the news story about credit card pulled down. She made a post to her Facebook page at 9:51pm saying she hoped to catch up soon with some friends. Family thankful for prayers, wants privacy.

Thanks for the update.

They interviewed on-camera a few people from her neighborhood who discussed how people there do not lock their doors. One woman said her in-laws STILL don't. To me, that's stupid. No neighborhood is that safe. This guy's still out there too. The public does not know if he was after Anne or just whoever.

There were some items found and they are waiting on forensics, so hopefully some clues are mounting.

Maybe that's just a random few people. I'm with you beaglebrd, I always lock my doors. I've lived here for over 30 years, and everything gets locked. I live less than 2 miles from where she does.
I'm not sure if it was somebody she knows or not, but I keep thinking one thing if it wasn't... maybe she got home, took her dogs outside for the last time that night and didn't lock behind her - that would be normal enough - somebody went in her house while she was out and she was unaware until she was back in her bedroom. That would explain in to me, somebody waiting and watching. Creepy and scary. Any thoughts?
Here's another update - looks like that gas station has a good survellience system!

Your link didn't work for me but I went to the fox16.com site and read it. Sounds like the best place that card could have been used. Yesterday I heard they were fingerprinting the windows in front of her house. I think her backyard is fenced so the dogs probably went out there, but I'm not sure. I did hear from someone who said it was a good source that the back door was unlocked. Maybe there's no fence or the gate to it was unlocked.

My dear concerned, I think you are on the wrong thread, but on the right one, I AGREE!

Apparently I was on the wrong thread. I am terribly sorry about that.

Back on the right thread.Anne may be on a ventilator due to her injuries especially swelling in the brain and more than likely her esophagus due to the trauma. It could be a while before she is able to speak after the vent is removed. I truly hope there is LE presence at the hospital as she is very vulnerable right now.

The fact that she is stable and young will get her back sooner, I hope, with no long term medical problems.

Yep, an unlocked backdoor would explain it too beaglebrd. Or she could have taken them for a walk out the front too I suppose. The credit card use does kind of sound like a stranger to me.

I think you're right. Initially it was rumored that her throat had been cut. But it appears that the blunt force caused tearing and a lot of blood and this did not happen, but very likely if in critical condition she's on a ventilator.

With brain swelling, they are probably keeping her in a drug induced coma for now. I can see why it could be awhile before LE can speak to her. I feel so sorry for her and for her family.

It is a great thing that her mother went over there when she did or she probably would not have survived this severe of a beating. How many moms would do that thinking their daughter had just overslept? She is amazing and maybe she had that mother's intuition kicked into high gear...even if she didn't know it at the time.

A cable show had a neighbor on, he said Anne's dogs were always getting loose and people just put them back in her fenced yard.
I work critical care...my guess is she is not on a vent because they say she is going to make a full recovery. She most likely has short term memory loss right now and would be of no help to investigators.

I have seen people who were on a vent make a recovery. Unfortunately, some nurses don't have vision. Her memory will return but it is a wait and see. It could take some time and it could be muddled. Never discount the patient.

I get the impression it was a stranger too........probably had been casing the neighborhood out for a day or two. He probably got into her place while she was outside and just hid inside until she got into bed, she got relaxed and he caught her off guard. If it was someone she knew......I don't think they would have risked using her credit card.
